I've been training MMA for 18 years with a bjj brown belt. This is definitely a legit submission that can break your arm. The way he applied it was not ok for friendly sparring. He's definitely in the wrong.

I've trained in BJJ for 25 years and that can snap your arm big difference between throwing punches in sparring and trying to break an arm in sparring Sean is a little rough in sparring but that move was unacceptable.period

Orlando handled it like such a douche, even when he's trying to seem like a good dude. Like you want props for NOT breaking a dude's arm in the gym? And it doesn't matter whether Strickland is pro or known to you. You determine whether or not you injure someone based on if they're a pro or not? Total dickhead in my book.

Any injury in training is a huge step backwards. At every level. Whether we are talking money, missed training, surgeries, healing, rehabilitation, etc. It is never okay to seriously injure somebody in training.

All do respect to Orlando RIP, but the way he’s trying to jerk that Americana type submission around the elbow while sparring is an explosive move that the person doesn’t have time to tap if it hits hard. If it hits hard, there is no time to tap before something tore. In a legitimate fight, obviously you should do that move, but in training, it’s uncalled for.

Orlando most likely knew who he was and was definitely trying to do some damage, but Sean and any MMA fighter should not be sparring with people that they do not very well especially before a fight. So it is on him also, especially if he already had some tension before they sparred from messing with the guy's friend (it was not Orlando but his friend, saw this in another video that was causing the issue, sean was razzing him for wearing a backwards baseball hat, probably the guy in black in this video, so Orlando was mad at him about that.)

I remember watching this when Sean wasnt really in the spotlight like he is now and thinking how dirty Orlando was doing him but upon seeing Sean beating the fuck out of inexperienced sparring partners I can believe that he was asking for it.
