Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Saturday (April 16) held a press conference at the Istana to share details on how Finance Minister Lawrence Wong was chosen as leader of the ruling People’s Action Party’s fourth-generation team.

PM Lee was joined by Mr Wong and former minister Khaw Boon Wan, who was tasked with overseeing the political succession process. Mr Khaw shared that of the 19 people interviewed as part of the decision-making process, 15 chose Mr Wong as the preferred leader.

Political editor Zakir Hussain discusses the details of the selection process, and whether the handover of the PAP leadership to Mr Wong will take place before the next general election.

Mr Khaw Boon Wan which helped in Minister Lawrence Wong's transition is unstable and slow, Mr Khaw never do or make a good Housing policy when he was still the Housing Minister. A Singaporeans HDB flat has no value after 99 years. And in Singapore, government flats and land goes back to the government after 99 years. A Singaporean doesn't really OWN any CPF or HDB. PM Lee and Lawrence Wong is just wasting people's time and Taxpayers money 🧒🏻😷🍩🍨🥧🎉👌🙏👍.

Mr Lawrence Wong is a good person hopefully he can shown himself as an outstanding people’s leader. LHL ought to give his personal endorsement by singing praises and show past performance of LW in his various ministries and constituency to assure confidence of the electorate. LHL must give LW a free rein to make a mark to establish a stature possibly higher than himself.
