If you haven't grabbed this game yet, I have three words for you - DESIST THY STALLING! Thanks to the team at Humble, the game costs ABSOLUTELY DIDDLY-SQUIT. (Yes; you read that right - it costs nothing. Bupkis. Zero.) I've been recommending this game for a year for two reasons; it's an RTS that will stretch your brain and make you think (which a quality RTS is SUPPOSED to do); the other reason is it's the lightest (in terms of hardware requirements) hardware-neutral DX12 game out there. What is odd is that the original AOtS was far from hardware-neutral and had a reputation as a system punisher; what Escalation did (in addition to adding a lot of new units) was make it hardware-neutral as far as DX12 went - and actually LOWERED the system requirements; that usually does NOT happen with a DLC add-on! (The only other RTS to do that was - rather amusingly - Anno 2205's Big Five DLC upgrade; like Escalation, it was a free upgrade.) But you only have until Sunday.

Not really a beginners guide. I'm a beginner and would love to know how to play this game as I have bought it not used it as there appears to be no instructions with it. This video is just clicking away with no explanations.
