I LOOOOVE these book shopping videos. Please keep them coming. I dream about visiting Waterstones one day. Unfortunately, no sales around here (in Chile). The book industry is struggling greatly, so no discounts at all. I did buy the latest from Alvaro Bisama an excellent Chilean author, and my friend Isis sent me Prophet song all the way from Australia, so I am set for a few days. Keep these vids coming, Eric, please.

I love how you showed way more than just Waterstones, even though I love that footage, too. I wish I had been there with you - I definitely would have picked up the James Baldwin that you showed. I plan on reading one of his books for Black History Month.

I was in London in November, 2022 (my third visit since 2019) and it was so nice to see some familiar sites including the Waterstones store, in which I bought two books. I love when you take us sightseeing!

This was very lovely. Thank you for taking us with you Eric. That Waterstones is so large and impressive in many ways but I always find myself waylaid by Hatchards down the block and typically only go into Waterstones when I can’t find a book in one of the smaller shops. Tom Lake is a wonderful novel (definitely enhanced by a familiarity with Thornton Wilder’s play Our Town) and I’ve bought it as a gift for several people. It would be amazing to see it on the WP longlist.

Classy! Classy! Enjoyed the walkabout 🫶🏻
I really enjoyed reading The Dutch House. It was my first Ann Patchett read. So, I feel really good about choosing Tom Lake as my second! Also, will look into Our Town (that you mention in another video) I’m curious and love plays.
Also, your foodie book pick does sound fun 🤭 Great video! Thank You as always.

I also love Anne Patchett. Did you know that she has a bookstore in Nashville called Parnassus. If you buy her books there, which I am now doing, she will sign them to you. Shipping to the UK may make the cost prohibitive, but I love buying her books from her store.

Hello Eric🙋‍♀️ I loved your video 📹 Journey through London. It was very nostalgic for me, as I used to spend HOURS in the large WATERSTONES Book 📚 store in Piccadilly. There was also an excellent Coffee ☕️ Shop in the Basement. Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane. Happy Reading 📖

Thank you for taking us on this trip to London. I was supposed to travel to London last year, but due to world events we decided to wait. I was assured we will travel to England this year.

I am constantly buying books but my most recent purchases were. Emily Wilde's encyclopaedia of faeries by Heather Fawcett off Amazon and Pirate Latitudes by Michael Crichton bought from a local second hand book shop. I love seeing the vlogs of London. I hope to one day go there

Really lovely to watch your London video on a relaxing Sunday morning, thank you! I'm taking my kids to The British Library, to see 'Realms of the Imagination', Fantasy Literature exhibition during half term, and you have reminded me to take them to St James Park in the afternoon to feed the birds/pelicans/squirrels and maybe squeeze in a Waterstones trip, we'll see.. I'm listening to Meryl Streep reading Tom Lake on Audible, I'm enjoying it immensely.

The travel footage is gold! Thank you. I’m laughing at the mail you got! I haven’t bought any new books (still listen to them from library) but I’ve been buying a lot of science fiction vintage paperbacks for the cover art and I’m diving into those.

Thx, that was nice: Is that tiny Queen's Gallery really such a miniature? Or is only the entrance into a larger subterranean one? We used to have a tiny gallery in NYC, on 42d st, on the East side. It was the Whitney Annex and sometimes they had pretty neat exhibits there. There was one I really liked: A sculpture installation titled "Typewriter Eraser." No doubt this generation has never seen a typewriter eraser, which was a green rubber wheel on one end and long pink whiskers, for dusting the paper, on the other. The artist made it look like a motorcycle, like a chopper, doing a wheelie. Anyway, thx - enjoyed.

Thanks for the trip into London & the shopping excursion. I read Tom lake last year & really enjoyed it. They do the play Our town, so I also read Our town.

Hi Eric. I usually order new books I want to read from my local library but when I saw that my local Waterstones in Nottinghamshire had a sale I went along to take a look. I was happy to purchase Land of Milk and Honey at half price and I also bought All the Light we Cannot See by Anthony Doerr on the recommendation of one of the members at my Book Group. I cannot afford many new books so have to be patient and wait for my turn at the library which can sometimes be many months. I have ordered TomLake my Ann Patchett and am now reading State of Wonder which the library had on the shelf. Thank you for recommending so many books which I have been able to enjoy, albeit some time after your recommendations. Take care.

Lovely footage. I'm back in London on Leap Day for a week, and have a lots of book shops on my list of things to do. £££££££!

I haven't been to a bookshop sale, I live in Spain, but I did get a windfall in the way of temporarily diverting some books on their way to a charity shop (they will get there, I just need to read them first!).

The one I'm reading at the moment from that 'gift' is The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams, which I am really enjoying. It sums up everything about reading and how books can be there for you, just when you need them.

I enjoyed this journey into London! I would love to visit Waterstones. Glad you didn’t leave empty handed. I’m looking forward to reading Tom Lake in the near future.

I was hesitant about reading Tom Lake, but I very much enjoyed it. I’m listening to Doppelgänger on audio now. It’s really great. It sounds like your experience is very similar to what happened to Naomi Klein. I read very little non-fiction but this book makes me want to read more.
