Check out the longer video for more context and information. It's on my channel page in the videos section, or, just follow the link (that no one ever sees) at the bottom of the short... Cheers :)

He's not wrong, this works AMAZINGLY well. It's like making an in situ compost heap that rots down whilst you grow on top. It does shrink back a good bit, but you're up and growing FAST and you repeat the process yearly until its genuinely full of some of the best homemade compost. Cracking idea! 👍

I swanny after watching you for so many years and you being my main gardening influence, I now do every single thing the way you do it. I do a lot in ground now that I’ve moved and the new mortgage kept me from being able to get beds, but I even do my ground just like you do your beds now. You’re my garden twin :) I moved into a ton of clay and have been amending and plowing and amending an plowing with my compost and straw for three years now

I love your content. I have been doing this for years. And I have to add more every year. This is the only issue. Other than that growing great crops in mid Missouri

Thank you for showing this. I actually asked that question a few days ago. I actually am making a large raised bed with sleepers but we have been using mowed grass. I will be adding sugar cane mulch and some lucerne hay. I'll turn it all over and let it all rot down. Then putting some compost, cow manure and some garden soil that I will be buying from Bunnings, on top of it all. Hopefully that will make a good gardening medium. If you have any advice, I would appreciate it.

Hmm, I'm wondering about those pumpkins...
Will they eventually sprout, even though they have been buried?

Doing it with fresh organic matter means there will be a lot of shrinkage. I can't believe how much I've put in my raised beds and how much it has shrunk, to almost nothing and that's even with some top soil added

I usually just throw my rotted pumpkins in the compost heap so I ensure I get a crop for next year.

How long until you can grow in that bed?

I wondered about the heat from breakdown, but this is winter for you, so I'm guessing it's a benefit.
