In honor of Bob Dylan’s 80th birthday today, we’re excited to share this acoustic rendition of his hit song “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.” This intimate performance features Afro Fiesta (Mermans Mosengo and Jason Tamba) along with Twanguero and I-Taweh performing live outside during a special filming of Mark’s Park.

Every time I hear this song, I am transported back to a scene in my youth where I was at boarding school in the South Island of New Zealand, and a fellow boarder who was in his final year had died in a farming accident and they brought his body back to lay in state at our boarding house. We lined up to view him and to say our farewells and there he was laying with his Bob Dylan teeshirt on, bruised and young, we were so young and it was so shocking and one boy, cried and wailed for all of us... We played this song at his funeral. RIP young man.

As I sat holding my Brother's hand as he lay dying from a bullet to his brain and only thing keeping his hand warm was a machine, this song kept going thru me as I sat there for 12 hrs before he was removed from the machine. I need to keep playing for a change, my anger runs deep, but the music helps to take the edge off. Ty to all
