How did it hold up, i've read that some of these spools, when you insert the axles into the spool and mesh the splines of the axles into the splines of the spool, they are really loose compared to factory?

What's the ratio of the gear of that 8"inch rear differential carrier.? He didn't mention it.

Did you have problems putting the ring on the spool my bolts are not going in the smoothest but nothing stripped idk what to do lol

I would have left the ring gear off so no chance of damage to the gear teeth until the new bearings were pressed on. Accidents happen, if you drop the spool on the ground or worse yet a concrete shop floor you can chip gear teeth. You were concerned about 1 10, 000th of extra backlash, that shouldn't be a problem with a used ring and pinion ( you have some wear ) I would still just to be safe put some gear marking compound on the ring gear teeth and spin the pinion a few times in both directions to see what the contact patch looks like, it should be right in the middle of the tooth face. On the drive side and the coast side of the ring gear.

lol, I have a little spanner wrench from my grinder and I set it with my 3rd member for when I'm ready to fix it. It actually was already sitting on the table.  I understand that the finished product needs to have the proper backlash.  but what my question is.   how tight do you put your diff carrier like bearing pre-load or how tight do you tighten those side adjusters.  once again I do understand how ever tight you make it you have to do so while maintaining the backlash. on different types of diffs from reliable resources I got anything from 20-30 ft lbs. to 180 ft-lbs.  also just have no play where it spins freely and some do a bearing preload that you have to add to your pinion preload and blah blah blah.

You didn't replace the pinion gear were did you get just the spool and the ring gear

I have the very same one I have the teeth broken of the ring gear the pinion gear looks good can I just replace the ring gear
