I bought a toothbrush, some toothpaste
A flannel for my face
Pajamas, a hairbrush
New shoes and a case
I said to my reflection
"Let's get out of this place"
Passed the church and the steeple
The laundry on the hill
Billboards and the buildings
Memories of it still
Keep calling and calling
But forget it all, I know I will
Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered
What's been going on
Now that you have gone
There's no other
Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered
I'm at the car park, the airport
The baggage carousel
(The people keep on grindin')
Ain't wishing I was well
I said it's no occasion
(It's no story I could tell)
At my bedside empty pocket
A foot without a sock
Your body gets much closer
I fumble for the clock
Alarmed by the seduction
I wish that it would stop
Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered
What's been going on
Now that you have gone
There's no other
Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered
I bought a novel, some perfume
A fortune all for you
But it's not my conscience
That hates to be untrue
I asked of my reflection
Tell me what is there to do?
Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered
What's been going on
Now that you have gone
There's no other
Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered
Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered
Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered
Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered🎤🎶

Probably the most underrated band of the 80's. So many great songs, including this gem.

I am still in awe of this group. The writing was often very sophisticated lyrically, and musically. Some bands imitated the Beatles. These guys built upon the influence and brought it somewhere new and exciting.

I have no idea what’s going on in this video but I love it. 41 years and have not never seen this clip before. What a great, great, great song. And Paul Carrack on vocals… Just the absolute best!

Although this came out in the 80’s, it was was definitely one of those songs I heard growing up in the 90’s. That cadence is is legendary

‘80s music videos were an interesting breed, many of the earliest ones were usually videos like this of artists just goofing around on a soundstage with no real concept or plot. No gimmicks or flashy set pieces needed, really. They didn’t have to be like short films or anything like that. Much simpler times.

I saw this clip on TV years ago, but when I couldn't find it on Youtube, I wondered if I'd imagined this peculiar clip. It's half arsed, but I like it a ton.

I remember when this hit the air around 80-81 and loved it first time I heard it. This is one of the great timeless classics. Thank God the radio didn't slam it in the ground and played it a million times the first week it was out. This was one you caught every once in a while and made you stop and listen. Being Zeppelin, /Sabbath/ Dead Head from birth, to flip genres was grounds for excommunication from my peers. But they knew I had great taste in music and followed suit.

Only peaked as high as No. 49 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Charts in 1981. Great song.
