MotoTRBO/DMR decoding on PC with DSD

Decoding some MOTO TRBO with the Windows port of DSD - Digital speech decoder. I recommend that you listen with headphones or earphones to hear the full sound quality of the recording at the end.
The sound clip at the end of the full quality audio was recorded from the stereo mix of the computer while it was decoding. I just left it on decoding all day with a VOX recording program and listened to what had happened when I at the end of the day. That audio clip is basically a section of that.

I deliberately show it decoding in real time so you can see for yourself that it's decoding in real time.

for me, the scanner's volume does not change it, because the discriminator tap takes the audio before the volume adjustment. This is all recorded from a live decoding - DSD decodes it and then the decoded audio is recorded so I can listen to it later. But it does work just as well if you want to listen to it without recording it. The vox recorder has been put in the description for you because youtube won't allow me to post links in comments

what are you talking about its english? it is a bit difficult to understand because its distorted a lot by the speakers but its easier to understand the sample at the end. It also doesn't help when so many people have foreign accents but this is definitely english.

Not as far as I know. Make sure you try it in normal and in inverted mode, because it only decodes if you have it in the correct one.

do you have a discriminator tap on your radio? Because you need one. Go to the website for DSD on radioreference and read the whole page it will tell you what you need.

Hi there nice video. Can you clarify whether this program decodes moto trbo and DMR or just DMR as they are different digital modes as I understand.
Also can this software find the relevant details of transmissions from DMR radios to enable me to program a DMR radio of my own for listening while mobile?

Yes, it can record .mbe files I think. I guess it just records the data then decodes it into voice later when you use the command to play back the file.

It won't sound better decoding it like this, but it probably would do on a proper radio made for it. Only because so many people don't know how to use a radio and think that holding it 2m away from their mouth will allow people to hear them on analog! lol

Does the discriminator tap affect the performance of the scanner at all? I want to install one to my Pro-106, but I don't want to screw up an important audio feature or loose my ability to listen with headphones.
