Back in the 70s our home lost power for 5 days. Thank goodness we had a natural gas home. My mother had 2 canners going all day freezer canning and emptying our freezer. She kept me and my 2 sisters busy.
Saved all the food. Great memory.

Here’s my tip: if you have no power you may also not have easy access to water to heat these up. If you leave a bit more space for water in your jars, you’ll use that water in the pot to heat them up. Then just add a bit of cornstarch or flour and some seasoning to make a creamy sauce.

I like the idea of adding more water so you can cook with it when you open the jar. One thing I learned growing up was to use the freezer as a temporary holding place until whatever we had in there could be canned, not for long term storage. It keeps the rotation going and freezer burn to a minimum.

If you're able to get into a Sams Club, a Costco or some other pallet store, they have a section typically off to the side of the exit doors that are bins of cardboard boxes that the shelf products come in, for people to use and easier transport their bulk items. I like to rifle through there and pick out the cardboard trays to use in my pantry to store my finished jars in and easier transport and store.

I, like you, can things my mother never canned like butter, cheese, and milk, but although I've wondered if I could, I've never canned frozen vegetables. I don't know how your channel showed up on my "home" but your title, Canning Frozen Vegetables, intrigued me. Thank you so much for showing how to do this and for being so succinct in your instructions. The other thing you've shown me is that I can successfully can on two levels in my canner. I have a canner like yours, purchased for me by our daughter when my original one gave out after about 50 years. I never used it to stack jars but am ready to do so now after watching you. Of course I've subscribed! You have helped me considerably just with this one video. God's blessings on you!

WOW! NEVER THOUGHT TO CAN FROZEN VEGGIES. I’ve always canned most of my meats when they get close to freezer burn, but didn’t think of veggies. THANK YOU!
I know exactly what you mean when weather situations change you, I live in N Georgia and have lived through ice storms and hurricanes. My husband has always worked in food distribution delivering milk and now bread, 2 huge items bought during bad weather. Because of this we also see how crazy people act in stores when these storms show up. I love canning, but find my hobby of being prepared comes in handy during these times and keeps me out of the stores during crazy times. 😅

Brings back memories when i was a child helping my mom can. I enjoyed it very much. Being with my mom preserving our food. I always loved seeing all the canned food on the shelves. Thank you for helping me remembering those memories and for the knowledge.

I have been concerned about losing power so I have been using up my frozen vegetables also (pressure canning). I also like to get a big chunk of meat, doesn't matter as long as it is cheap, and adding frozen vegetables to about 1/3 jar of meat...Instant meal. You explain things well. Good video!

I bought a lot of frozen veggies and I cut up a couple onions and chopped potatoes and tomatoes, and cooked all for about 20 minutes and then I pressure cooked them in quart jars,

PERFECT, i am obsessed with frozen veggies and i need room in my Frozen veggies are exactly like fresh but having so many bags in my freezer can get bulky so If I can them which will extend them I'm all for it! I just will not use anything but frozen veggies...except now a "can" of them will be fine.
