I said this on the 7th of October when Hamas started their attack. Now I say it once more : Hamas will be very happy and joyful for the 1st 5 days. But they and their people in Gaza will be very very sad for the next 50 years !

The problem is that Hamas began by calling for the elimination of Israel entirely - which sounded very genocidal. Then they embarked on years of terrorist tactics, targeting civilians, instead of either choosing nonviolent methods or attacking only legitimate military targets. Given their size and weakness, they would have gotten much further choosing Gandhi's tactics. Instead, they lost the sympathy of the Israeli center and left and encouraged the Israeli far right to develop. They lost the potential support of the international community too. And in their continued violence, Israel is provoked into harsher and harsher responses
