BEST Controller Sensitivity / Settings in Destiny 2

Destiny 2: Season 15 brought some BIG Controller / Console updates to the settings menu. From sensitivity, to ADS sensitivity modifier, to Look Turn Scale (aka Traction), these new settings have a huge impact on every Destiny player and it's worth taking the time to optimize these settings to find what is best for you. Regardless of if you're on a console like the PS4, Xbox One, PS5, and Xbox Series X, OR if you're on PC using a controller, these settings are extremely important and will determine how successful you are in Destiny 2.

This video covers Sensitivity and the ADS Sensitivity Modifier in particular detail because these settings are extremely misunderstood among the general D2 population, and understandably so. The way the acceleration and sensitivity graphs work is very complicated and confusing. I discovered a LOT about how the sensitivity works and I didn't include it ALL in the video because the average viewer probably doesn't want THAT many details, but if you want to learn more just ask me in the comments and I'll reply! I hope you enjoy the video :)

I liked, commented and subscribed. I have watched this video multiple times, but only now understand it properly! It is highly recommended to rewatch this video periodically

It’s very important that I keep my double press delay low so that I can still bag without dodging by mistake.

I was so disappointed to find out that the ads multiplier can’t give you an exact sensitivity. I started playing on 15 and wanted my ads sense at 7.5 but it never felt like 7.5. This video solved some unanswered questions of mine and I’m very thankful for the time you put in it. Guess I’ll have to play around with more settings again

For the Melee button mapping i use the Right Bumper for the charged Melee and for the normal melee i use the Right Stick. It makes for more deliberate use of the charged melee and less consequential aim mistakes if you press the stick while adjusting your aim

For PS controller, I kept auto melee as r1, made uncharged as r3, and made charged as ADS and r1. Just holding the aim button makes me aim better for some reason so works well for projectile melees for me and doesn't take away from my muscle memory

I have my settings down before watching but god damn this video is crazy in-depth. Not many people are doing what you’re doing. Keep it up man!

Putting uncharged melee on right stick press feels quite nice when shotgunning. When you shoot just like squeeze the right hand and it shoots and instantly punches. I love it

I 100% had the misconception of the ADS multiplier. I was really hyped to bump my sens from 7 to 8 but running with 0.8 ADS multiplier to lower my aim to 6. I’ve had a much harder time adjusting to the fact that aiming is not 1:1 than expected, and also the acceleration factor def explain why I’m overshooting/under shooting more than usual.

This is my kind of content right here. As someone who mainly snipes this content helps a lot, Thank you for doing this!

Personally when it comes to sensitivity in games I’ve always said use whatever your comfortable using and use what makes you land your shots. However if you can use max sensitivity and still land all your shots then use max sensitivity. The advantages are insane, you can react quicker and in shotgun fights it makes all the difference. But if your using max sensitivity and missing some shots then tone it down a bit. That’s the way I’ve always looked at it.

9:17 thanks for that, completely missed it in the settings and was bummed that the traction feeling was gone…

I’ll stick to 8 sens, 1.0 ads & 0.8 sprint modifier. Don‘t fix what ain‘t broken… 😉

I use 20 sense at .8 turn scale and .7 ads modifier so that when I’m using a sniper/shotgun/Thundercrash titan, I can bait and turn then slam and shotgun and guarantee my kills. The .7 modifier gives me a good middle ground between high zoom and low zoom ads sens. I wish I could change high and low zooms speeds separately because .7 is a little too slow for sniping and a little too fast for low zooms like the multimach, chromarush, or last word. I still have to experiment a little more but this is just what I’ve found so far. Great video, keep up the good work.

I put my class ability as R3 and never turned back. Putting R3 as my hunter dodge is soooo good because you have complete ominous directional control when u dodge since your movement control is already R3. It’s seamless

This is an awesome video! ADS settings gives controllers so much more control (hehe)

Yo so for the charged melee….I have a solution that I love. First of all, I have crouch set to R3 press and class ability set to long r3 press. This frees up the Circle ⭕️ button for your uncharged melee. I have charged melee still on R1 because, like Shadow said, you need your thumbs on your joysticks to aim your charged melee. This leaves Finishers in a weird spot. Since it only works in PVE, I put it on D-Pad Down button. If an enemy can be finished- you will instantly finish them. If not- your emote still works as normal! It may sound weird reading it but trust me, it feels like a natural solution for anyone who’s already used to playing on Puppeteer. Give it a try!

Great job explaining. I came up with roughly the same conclusion afrer testing in a lost sector for a few hours. I've ended up at 13 and .8 as my most comfortable. I could feasibly adjust down a hair to 12 and .8, but I'm just trying to go the "get used to it" route for the quicker turning.

Was waiting for this so muuuch. Im actuallg playing 0, 8 tracking while running and 11 on camera sensitivity.

This video gave me the motivation to finally mess around with the sensitivity and mapping. I have 5's across the board now because I've been doing a lot of scout/sidearm playing at range so I don't need fast turning and that has significantly improved my aim. BUT the biggest thing was being able to jump and slide while aiming. That alone has completely changed my playing for the better. I went from 1.0/1.5kd or worse on average to 2+ on average. Even matches where we get stomped I'm routinely doing better than I was prior to the changes. Don't think this doesn't apply to you, it's seriously helpful stuff. Great video! The only downside is this video cost me $80 because I couldn't find a good mapping without a controller that adds extra buttons. I expect reimbursement by the end of the quarter.

I wish they would add a linear sensitivity option for controller. It’s a learning curve and feels bad at first, but it has improved my aim in all shooters on controller, namely apex.
