He means going out to eat with his teammates, if you’ve ever played sports you know those were some of the best memories during road trips

"going out to eat"

But believe me, his life with his team mates just flashed in those few seconds of silence.

"Probably just like "is when he saw his teammates at the tables laughing n crying and becoming one together..damn this hits..after battles, pain, happiness, you do it all for your team, yourself, family and the love for the game

People forget these sports teams are literally like family, they spend more time with their teammates in training, camps, games, other activities than they do with their actual family.

Glad too see he's got heart and not afraid to show his emotions. Wish him all the best.

"Going out to eat " . He will miss the good memories of breaking bread with his teammates ! Laughing, joking with each other, and the support of his close friends during difficult times in his life ! Isn't that the most important thing in life ?

Comradarie at its best man. After a win or lost it’s just satisfying to share a meal or drink with the team.

Literally the best memories. Golden Corral with the team were the best times, especially after a long tournament day. I miss my teammates. 😔

EATING TOGETHER IS PROBABLY THE MOST REVERED EXPERIENCE THAT IS MISSED AMONG TEAMMATES, FRIENDS, OR FAMILY, WHEN YOU NO LONGER CAN.

It’s much deeper. He was neglected as a child and never really had a family. He is realizing that it was the best time of his life and how much he will miss his basketball family.

For a only child, the bond you build with strangers that become teammates then brothers!! It’s unreal

I felt his pain. Once you no longer have that same in-group with people (e.g. being teammates), some relationships just slowly fade away. People who you used to break bread with on a regular basis become strangers, never to share another meal in each other’s presence again. Life can be just as cruel as it is beautiful

I don’t even know this man, but I want to give him a hug so bad

Man that was a humble answer... especially with all the prestige he acquired during his stay.

I know what he was trying to say, but to only say going out to eat is damn hilarious 🤣

I feel like athletes and musicians share this experience. The post event meals are where it really sinks in. At the moment it's all still a blur of sweat and emotions, but nothing beats the sense of calm when you're munching on tacos and telling stupid jokes about the event

There’s nothing like breaking bread with people you love. Those are some of the most memorable moments.

It's ingrained in an athletes mind that their teammates are family. Their brothers/sisters. For anyone who can make it as far as college, it's a true belief and a feeling close to heart. I only ever played highschool football but I remember crying with my teammates like one of us died the year we lost in the provincial game (state finals, for my Americans). I remember smiling ear to ear and celebrating every single win that got us their, each year. I've grown beyond it now but my old teammates are just about the only people I'd stop to catch up with when I run into them. You face the same challenges, share achievements, one player's penalty is the teams penalty, yeah theirs a stat card but you win, lose and evolve as a team. I really felt closer to my team than my family as a teen, no issues at home. The love I got from the team was just warmer than what even my parents brought to the table. I'll forever appreciate the speeches my coach gave, every single time that man spoke it hit the soul. I don't even have a favorite team, I just love watching the game these days dude to the love being a student athletes instilled within me. I feel his energy, it doesn't feel like the last game until someone asks you how it feels to be done or if you cherish the time spent. I can only imagine the feeling it inflicts after seeing a NCAA ride all the way through.

"He will be cooking from home for the rest of his life people.."

I'm about to tear up for that man..

The Chinese restaurant loved feeding all of us. They would even stay open late after a Friday night game just so we could all eat together. Win or lose.
I’ll never forget breaking bread with my teammates and laughing in that wonderfully ordinary restaurant. Memories I’ll cherish forever

This is truth.I played college football for 5 years at a major D1 school and there is nothing like team meals-especially if you had a good family upbringing. These boys become your family.I miss that 30 years later-but I am STILL friends with almost all of them.17 of us went pro, and those guys moved on, but for the rest of us-it built a life bond.
