The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office held a news conference Wednesday to provide updates on the investigation into the fatal shooting on the set of the movie “Rust." Alec Baldwin fired a gun that was thought to be safe, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza on the New Mexico film set, authorities said.

Every time the firearm was handed off to the next individual it should have been checked and cleared by the person receiving it. There was extreme negligence by every person that handed that firearm to the next person. Baldwin was the person who fired the fatal shot, therefore he is ultimately responsible for the death.
I’m an electrician and hunter. Just because someone says the power is off you still check it with a meter.

The Production Company of Rust initially claimed that a blank was fired from Baldwin's gun. I believed that to be a lie from the start. Correct Me if I'm wrong but Isn't Baldwin's Production Co. behind this ill fated movie? The Production Company is in charge of on set safety even if the armourer and assistant director failed to properly check the gun for live rounds. Baldwin himself the one who fired a live round and killed the Cinematographer has a duty himself to also inspect the gun for live rounds. Baldwin and his Production Company from the start have been trying to absolve themselves from culpability in their malfeasance that resulted in the death of the cinematographer.Lets hope justice prevails and those responsible for unitentiinally killing the cinematographer will be charged for her death.

This may sound insensitive to this tragedy, but I don't really feel sorry for Alec Baldwin, he's a dude who's a part of the anti-gun crowd, yet he stars in movies where he's using guns, he's a hypocrite, and I'm glad he's paying the price for it.

If I were going to "play" guns on a movie set, I would make damn sure before I used the prop that the cartridges were empty. Obviously, Alec B relied on another person for gun safety. Alec knew there was fire practice and gunplay with live ammo on the set. What a foolish and deadly mistake. As a producer, he should be held liable.

Why wouldn't Alec be held accountable? At least in some degree, he was handed a weapon, your taught to always check for yourself weapon is not loaded. Hunters safety 1st lesson, treat all guns as if they are loaded. Accident or not some culpability for a death is shared by all who touched the weapon. My opinion, nothing else.

No, no, no the person who fired the gun is completely responsible just like anyone else. If you fire a gun you are responsible for anything that round does or goes. This is involuntary manslaughter and he needs to do jail time for it. Then go after the director etc for not having safety trained professionals on set.
