AVERAGE AT BEST: Aaliyah 'One in a Million' 1st Listen EVER

I finally heard Aaliyah's classic album for the first time... aaaaaaand it's just ok. Here are my thoughts... #firstlisten #oneinamillion #Aaliyah

A lot of music especially from that era was remakes and remixes a lot of which we just didn’t realize. Nearly all of Hip-hop was sampled and as you stated they were figuring it all out. Tim, Missy, Aaliyah and friends brought a whole new sound to the game and we wouldn’t have it if they didn’t cut their teeth with this album. I can’t speak for all the songs but some of the ones mentioned like One in a Million I personally loved. So for 4 that would make the greatest hits cut sounds like a win to me…

When i got the album back in 96...I only liked the singles. The rest was filler to me. Now that I'm older, I like a few more tracks and I appreciate it more ❤

Average??? Well good thing it’s your opinion lol. Do you remember the 90’s because I couldn’t cut on the radio with out hearing her music. This album did really good. When this album was released it didn’t sound like her other counterparts AT ALL.The album was really good. There’s nothing average about a album that had 4 singles that hit the airwaves and stayed on the charts. Again, not everyone is going to like the same music.You just said you didn’t really get into these type of albums in the 90’s so listening to it now compared to when it was out would be a total difference. So basically if you not feeling a certain sound then you would think it was just a average album. If that makes sense

It would’ve been different if the album came out today. So of course it would somewhat consider average today, a lot of people say music back then is average, because all they have today is garbage!
