I was in a few bands and later worked with a few solo projects and singer-songwriters as a session musician back in the 2010's.

There are exceptions, but it's all about now. It became pretty apparent when as a band, we started branching out into other genres by being hired by singer-songwriters and backing them for their own gigs; through that even opening for some pretty solid headliners (Collie Buddz, Shwayze) in sold out venues. Pay still wasn't even good, but ofc that's not why we did it.

There are absolutely exceptions to this rule (Reggae is a big one). And as always, do what you love, but the honest truth is that if you want to somehow make a living in the music industry in 2022, a band is a decent way to start (especially if you are young with no experience), but honestly one is probably better off writing on their own and learning DAW's. Whether it's hip hop, EDM, pop, even country. Don't even need a band when software has gotten so good 99.99% of listeners can't even tell the difference.

That being said, bands are amazing for networking and everyone loves live music. And of course, it's really fun. But the golden-age of "rock bands" is 100% dead.

The 1st part shows what being in a band is everyone in their natural state the 2nd part has everyone acting poorly barely able to not smile

Its quite hard being on the road. Alot of boring nothingness between gigs ect. It does have amazing times but you give up alot to make it and alot of constant hard work.

If you’re in a band and you’re going to pursue music you already know what you’re getting yourself into, in regards to contracts, labels, tours, papparazi and ect. Being in a band would still be fun. You get to travel the world preforming for thousands who love u, release music you love creating.

Wrong, they have time for party and have fun too. I mean, they have managers and people working for them to do all the hard work. They don't do all the job, they just record albums, tours, go to meetings, and be agree or desagree with the label and not so much because when you sign a contract in technically you belong to the company until the contract expires, but thats all.

neither of those is what being in a band is like if you want to produce actual music, it takes months to get stuff perfected then recorded then you need to make a video for your stuff, this is just a cheap attention grab...
