OK OK - But can you have 90 degree corners on the text when you make it BOLD or Glow/Drop Shadow?? Everything I have seen with Text Mesh Pro forces the corners to be rounded if you try to increase the thickness of the font when using Sine Distance Field....

Can you make a fuller long tutorial (10-15 mins long), we need to learn about scripting and animating TMP_Text objects, and how to customise fonts etc.

Until unity makes TextMesh Pro support a runtime dynamic texture atlas the normal UI Text will still be useful in some cases. Such as trying to render the full Unicode range of characters at runtime, lets say you have in-game player chat or whatnot.

What I don’t get is: If Unity is already aware of it’s bad UI texts, why are they not doing it better instead of letting Text Mesh Pro (A third party solution) handle this?

I've dealt with similar engines in the past and I want to stress that it's more difficult than most people think. Fonts are not only glyph shapes, the relation between them is equally important - and the "T ext mesh..." at the very begging is a clear sign of "more work to come" for the team. After that - there's a zillion of small properties and features to figure out too, like ligatures, alternates, substitutions, etc. But - fix the kerning, please.

Unity is becoming one big pile of disintegrated messy packages, UX is gonna suffer greatly if things aren't integrated well enough.
