Welcome to Part 1 of this Watercolor Lily Tutorial! Today I'll talk you behind the scenes of this beautiful watercolor flower painting while I mix together the paints that I am going to use—along with some helpful color theory—and show you how I start my paintings following a loose, modern watercolor method.

Really liked this video. I love painting flowers and I'm trying to find some middle ground between loose and botanical - something that shows the unique qualities of watercolours. I especially liked how you used a mix of soft blending and then let some hard edges form naturally - a very nice effect that you just cannot get with other media. You demonstrated the process you use really well. Also, thanks for not adding on background music!

Excellent video. Thanks for sharing the paint you are using. All too often that is done at the end. You work is great. I needed the help about mixing color. Nice angles of the camera allowed me to see you paint as you went along. Very clear demonstration.

Sorry if this has been answered within the video but, the drawing/outline that you paint...
Is there a stencil (or something of that form) you use for this?
Or do you have a link for us to download the lily outline to then paint... or a link for is to follow to draw, before using this video and part 2 to add the watercolours?
