Life Mart is a convenience store chain based in Yekaterinburg, Russia. With more than 350 locations, the stores combine fresh and healthy food with a coffee shop and dining area. Could this open-store concept work outside of Russia?

These stores also have a counter where products made by children's hands are presented. If a child draws postcards, for example, makes jewelry and brings them to this store, to a special stand. The tag shows the product, the price and the number of the child's bank card. You can pick up the jewelry and give the money to the child. My daughter makes brooches and sells them in this store. People do not steal children's goods, but honestly pay small entrepreneurs. They often overpay for them. Yes, Russian banks have children's plastic cards and a separate account.

I have been quite impressed with the concept of providing people with a “microwave” at supermarkets— which Russell has shown us In Moscow!

Commenting from London: I don’t think I’ve seen anything like this in the UK … whether it’s the microwaves or this life market concept! But it’s definitely appealing!

What is interesting is that this very modern and forward thinking idea is in Ekaterinburg and not Moscow or st Petersburg where you would “naturally” expect innovation!

It just goes to show how variable Russian cities are, and how they all try to carve their own identities despite being quite far from Moscow and St P!

I'm not sure if it was only me who noticed it. Lots of cities in RUSSIA are mostly clean. The design of buildings, especially the main landmarks, are spectacular. Honestly, most of your reviews of public transportation to supermarket stores etc. were excellent. It keeps me wanting to see more. Very articulate!

Very nice store! I enjoyed the video. Shop lifting is so bad here in the USA, I am not sure if a self serve store could stay in business in the USA. Nice concept, but our country has been going down hill morally for a while now. Keep on making your videos, we enjoy them.

I study at an art college right in the next building from this LifeMart. The forged gates to the right of the entrance door belong to our college (Sverdlovsk Art College named after Shadr)
Our students make up a very large percentage of visitors to this branch, and I even saw some of my friends in the video)))
