Are the twins piped into the crank to make an air cusion under the pistons to help deal with the pressure of a huge positive displacment blower? Kinda like some of the first atmospheric engines ran without a conrod, but instead connected to a rack, in a sealed cylinder. The air trapped behind the piston kept it from exiting the end of the cylinder during the power stroke.

Where's the boost from the turbos feeding in?
EDIT: I think I can see it now, they feed to the back of the manifold through the black pipe.
