I have an uncomfortable feeling with Starmer and the things he has said in the last week or more. It feels to me that he is using this opportunity to build up his profile. Even in short speeches he has said “ I “ more than twenty times even bring the past into it when he was DPP. He seems to me that it is all about him. I just wonder has he spoken or even met the parents of the children who were killed at the start of all this? If he has? Then good for him. In my opinion what happened at Southport was the spark that was needed to light the smouldering fire which was already in place. I am not saying it was the cause but people react in a very strange way and I would suggest it certainly did not help the situation by what the Govt had done immediately after coming in. They did away with the winter fuel payment for the pensioners. ( The parent# of many of those involved in the riots ) We were told it was all to do with money. That being the case, could Reeves had not shown to lead by also removing the £3400 per annum that MPs receive? That to me would have really eased the pain to the OAPs. The next day or so Ed Milliband announced he was sending £11.6 Billion pounds to foreign Countries towards climate change. If there was no money to reward the pensioners for doing their bit to the Country when they were once the workforce, then where did they suddenly find £11.6 Billion to reward foreign countries and punish our own pensioners? How could this be done after announcing there was a £20 Billion plus blackhole? I am confused by it all. Then Angela Rayner steps in to further ignite the situation by announcing that Muslims and those that illegally entered this country without a passport would get priority on the housing list! The govt announced British Citizenship to over 70000 of those who entered this country illegally. Surely, they must be checked first and if they don’t provide proof of who they are then they should be returned to another safe country such as France where they left to risk their lives to come here. I am sorry and it is not my intention to stir things in any way but surely I have a right to know have I not? As an employee and later had my own business I had to collect taxes and NI contributions to the govt and to collect vat for the same. All this free of charge because the only thing I would get from the Govt was a fine for not sending the money I had collected free of charge within the allocated time. Why did I bother? The Government in my opinion instantly got off on the wrong foot coming into Parliament gung ho with their attitude saying this and that. If they have advisors as is the norm, I would respectfully request that Starmer and Reeves, Rayner and Cooper knock heads together and get some decent advisors in to guide them in the right way forward. My final concern which is really frightening or scary, depends which way you look at it. Do they seriously not realise the massive costs which are ahead of us all with allowing the 70000 plus to stay. Will their families now be allowed to come to this country because of their relative’s status as a British Citizen. If so, then where will. They live? Will all the 70000 be allowed financial benefits equal to what those who have lived here all their lives be entitled to? Simple questions but they need serious answers. A totally disillusioned 73 OAP worried for the future ahead. I am very worried!
