2019 Honda Passport Review - First Drive

Welcome to breathtaking Utah! AutoGuide was invited out to evaluate the brand-new 2019 Honda Passport SUV both on-road, and, if you can believe it, extensively off-road in the dirt. This new Passport slots into the narrow gap between Honda’s CR-V and Pilot. But I’ve got to ask, do they really need another crossover vehicle? They’re positioning it as an alternative to the Nissan Murano and Ford Edge. But they also say it competes with the Jeep Grand Cherokee and perhaps even Toyota’s 4Runner. Yes, off-roading is a focus of this vehicle.

I am so glad they put a naturally aspirated V6 in this. Bravo. Now Honda, change those buttons to a normal gear shift lever.

Im fine with this, as I have literally no need a 3rd row in the Pilot, but still like a lot of the features of the Pilot.

I understand it cost alot to make a new suv or car from scratch but you can use the same platform but make it look different. This is the same as a pilot with some black trim

People are so mad about the passport like the rouge sport and range rover sport dont look nearly identical to their bigger counter part and dont leave Toyota/lex out🙄

While it seems like a nice crossoever, that could be kind of a jack of all trades.Good family hauler and some fun in the dirt while being a pretty decent daily driver, I really doubt it will hold a candle to a Wrangler or 4Runner in off road ability.I don't even consider them the same class.

Marketing this with an emphasis on "off road" is ridiculous as it wears low profile tires and 20" wheels.

Anyway, not sure why everyone saying "it slots between CR-V and Pilot if its 99% Pilot.
Every dimension is same (and some even bigger) as Pilot other than of course the length.
Passport is basically Pilot (sport)
Pilot is basically Pilot XL
