In this video, we're using symmetrical drawing, multiple angles and some refinement to update a character previously explored on the channel and create a character turnaround sheet, most commonly used in animation and comics.

I forgot to mention that $5 patrons get the FULL working PSD file for this guy, something like 60 layers!

Wow, I love the redesign, his shapes seem way more balanced. Also the color palette is just great. 😃😃😃

I'm so glad you've gone back to using lines in your work! I know you've been trying to level up your art by using color in a realistic, painterly way, but I've seen you draw some line art that I thought was incredible and then ERASE it and I just thought have a gift that you've been developing wisely, and I'm glad that now I get to enjoy this aspect of it as well. Thanks for everything you do, you're an inspiration!

Daayum I love what you did with his head and face, especially. This shows significant improvement! :D I love him.

Have to agree that this is a better looking version of that character.
Also glad to know that using lines in my designs isn't a beginner's fallacy anymore.
I do have to get better at symmetry though...

What an awesome character redesign! The new version shows much more personality and his color scheme is more readable and appealing than the older one. Also thanks for the tips, especially the one about symmetry. (P.S: I know this character is part from your future project, but he would also fit pretty well with the aliens from Lilo & Stitch, like Gantu; I think mainly because of the lineart style and overall proportions. 😆) Great videos! 😊

Design and color pallet are great! High impact color schemes with contrasting elements look so good!
I was wondering if you have any advice for putting shape language into more realistic characters. I tend tward fairly realistic features and proportions so I'm having a hard time working strong shape language into my character designs.
And also thank you for making these videos. Your content is very informative and helpful (It's why I started trying lineless art funnily enough, and I'm so glad I did).

I've noticed that your style changes between characters. The difference is more noticeable between species. For instance you'll have your own unique style for human characters, but a completely different style for animals. It's interesting.

Looks great! And I do like the line work. Makes this specific character really pop, you know? For me, getting just the right line art on a phone without pressure sensitivity stinks, lol, but an artist works with what they've got, right? :)
