Let’s be real here. Peter became full ownership with decisions just few years ago. We now have someone who spends which we didn’t have in the past.

Honestly I can't blame AJ. He brought a manager with a history of winning with less. He was given the money to sign guys like Machado, Tatis, Bogarts. He was given the Ok to trade for frickin Juan Soto. Just those 4 guys alone should be carrying this team. The only moves I didn't like was going after Cruz instead of JD Martinez for the DH this past off-season as well as letting Drury go in FA. The lineup would look radically different if these guys were on the roster. Drury at 1B, Crone 2B, Xander SS, Machado 3B, Soto-Grish-Tatis in the OF. If the team was winning they probably not have picked up Sanchez at C, which I'm thankful they did since he picked the team up for a bit or else the team might have 5 or so less wins and be at the bottom of the division. The team, the personalities just haven't meshed this year for whatever reason.
If the team is still 10+ back at the deadline I'm trading Soto for a kings ransom equal to what they gave up for him and I'm trading Darvish and/or Snell and keep/sign Hader.

I hate to see AJ making trades anymore.

We’re not hypocrites for liking the moves and promising star studded roster. We don’t have what the club has with resources obviously, close interaction with the clubhouse personalities, and the coaching staff. We aren’t baseball professionals. We are fans. We can like seeing big names. It’s up to the club to know how to fill out a roster. To understand that you can’t go get every star and there’s a reason. You won’t have the farm depth or bottom of roster talent to be flexible over a long season. It’s on them to have that vision and restraint. It’s on them to know better and to make prudent moves that don’t over commit, don’t gut a farm that’s needed over a long season as injuries and attrition build, don’t commit too early on extensions, to know when we’re bidding against ourselves and to avoid overpaying.

I resent the idea that we don’t get to voice frustration with this roster if we were happy and optimistic at the start of the season I’ve seen that sentiment a lot and it way over inflated what we as fans should be held to.

Looking at this season in regard to Aj here’s the tough ones to assess. HSK, Tatis and Soto have been great. Wacha and Lugo solid. Here’s the ones that put him under fire. First the decision to bring in Bigey at 11 years 280. He’s been horrible and maybe wrist but still was that a sound decision. Next what about Manny extending 10 years at 300. He’s not played anywhere near expectations. Should he have let the contract lapse and signed Soto. Long term. Croney? I love him but big contract with hitting 300? The DH position he missed on and possible moving Grish for another outfielder. I also right now question the darvish extension. All in all we go from favorite to be World Series to champ to the laughing stick of mlb network and espn

AJ is doing his job by rounding up the best players that he can, there’s no guarantee what happens after that, im good with AJ, I never thought we would have players like, Machado, Soto, Hader, Xander, snell . Those are the type of guys that the Padres would trade away because they weren’t willing to pay them,

I go back and forth on this, but after hearing Seidler speak what I'm resigned to is that Preller is here for the foreseeable future. Doesn't matter if he's wrong, if he's sold on Preller then he's here. You'll pull your hair out worrying about things that you can't change, so I think for now we just have to look at the positives; most sports fans would love a GM that goes out and spends the way Preller does. We have Tatis here because of his vision, and that really serves as proof that it only takes finding one gem to transform the team. I'm interested to see his approach to the trade deadline. I think there are ways to actually improve this lineup by selling on someone like Ha-Seong Kim, we have a surplus of infielders so you may look for a team that has a surplus of 1B/DH players, we make that deal, slide Cronenworth over to 2B and I think that improves the team right there at DH and 1B. If we want to keep Kim, we can trade Hader again for 1B/DH and that could actually turn this team around. We have options other than a full-fledged buy or sell strategy

What else can he say, 1.3 billion in contracts, he looks the fool if he moves on from him. The Padres under Preller have never won 90 games and in fact are 97 games under 500 during his tenure. If you're just looking to blow your cash let's have a bonfire 🔥🔥🔥 and really have some fun. Seidler in my belief is just DELUSIONAL!!

AJ is not great but his failings to me are more due to his added role as President of Baseball Ops and having him in both roles when it really seems like he lacks the skill set and personality for that level of leadership. GM, ok but the President of BO needs to work at such a high level, be disconnected from the minutia, and hire VPs and key managers that he trusts that report to him. President of BO needs to delegate and hold accountable. I believe the reports that AJ is a micromanager, does not like consenting resistance to his viewpoints, and lacks the vision to build a high caliber organization, top to bottom. There are plenty of skilled, talented, executive level leaders that could come in and move us to the next level. It’s time.
