Hallgrimskirkja church - Reykjavík, Iceland

The church attracts hundreds of pilgrims every day and has reached iconic status, towering prominently over the cityscape since the mid-20th century.

It is named after the 16th century priest and psalm poet Hallgrímur Pétursson and its uniquely Icelandic design, by the highly influential city architect Guðjón Samúelsson, draws its inspiration from the hexagonal basalt columns, volcanoes and glaciers of the Icelandic landscape.
