Charles Leclerc: the most underrated driver of 2021!

If you'd have told the average F1 fan that Charles Leclerc would be considered underrated in 2021, they probably wouldn't have believed you. With this year's championship battle, it's been easy to miss Charles' consistently good performances.

I think he’s spent the last two year improving and becoming significantly more consistent. If Ferrari can give him a strong car in 2022, I can see him fighting for (and potentially winning) the title.

Charles was never underrated, he's just been overlooked because most of the time he's in an uncompetitive car, and the way that F1 runs their commentary booth, which unfortunately is always looking at the leaders, even if there's nothing interesting happening, he's just not getting recognition. And it's the exact same for every driver outside of the top 3 teams, and most of the time, outside of the top 2

Charles is not underrated because we know what he can do, but what’s making him get “overlooked” is how well Carlos is doing. And I almost never hear anyone talking about sainz

I have lost count of how many times he has come 4th in 2021, and on many occasions lost podium by just 1 position.

Charles is arguably the most unlickiest driver this year, fact that he's been fighting for podiums, 2 poles in a car that's fourth/fifth quickest is simply incredible. I just hope we get the car right for 2022 because he deserves to fight for wins every race. Truly believe hes the best on the grid if given a competitive car

Charles and Carlos are killing it, I think the McLaren is a much faster package (remember it received more upgrades compared to Ferrari so far) and yet Ferrari could potentially beat them this year.

Charles is just a plain great driver. He gets the job done and most of the time overachieves.
I think having Carlos as his teammate has also helped both and pushed them to become better, but not pressured them into doing stupid mistakes.

He's been so consistently brilliant that it's become normal now and people miss out on it. One of the few drivers on the grid that is capable of actually winning a championship

I am 36 years of age.
I started watching F1 in 1994 and I was a Schumaher fan since he was in Beneton Renault. When Schumi left the sport I also left it since I felt that there were no drivers that excited me.
I stopped watching F1 and suddenly I see a video of this unknown F1 driver called Leclerc, driving a Ferrari for an ENTIRE RACE in Monza fending off Hamilton and then Botas.
My was as if I became a child again and I am watching F1 like back in the day.
I was in love again with the sport and my instinct kicked in. I saw something really special in Leclerc in that race and since then I am back in the sport.
So here is what I think.
Charles Leclerc is the fastest driver on track right now. And he is the best quali driver at the moment.
The second Ferrari gives him an equal car to the top 2 teams, he is going to be a champion solely because he has that much talent.
You can quote me on that.
I have been waiting 10+ years for a driver to peak my interest and Charles have done it splendidly.
He is a world champion. All he needs more equal terms with the rest of the pack

In my opinion he is up there with Hamilton, Verstappen, Russell, Norris. However I must say that I am extremely impressed by Carlos Sainz, who in just a few races is very close to Leclerc's pace

I think the problem with him is as you say many people take ir for garanted. For example when sainz scores a 4th place many people are like "what a race from carlos“ a 4th place for charles is like another normal day.

If Ferrari was better he'd be giving Hamilton and Verstappen a run for their money.
