Reminds me of why the farmers had to sue John Deere just so they could work on their own tractors

Videos like this make me feel so smart keeping my 1982 dodge truck.

"So advanced they don't have dipsticks" is a statement that perfectly encapsulates how stupid people have become. Gotta pay a "technician" to use a computer to do something I can do with no tools on an old Malibu in 30 seconds, and that's "advanced"?

That's super straightforward. The Toyota procedure is 10-pages long, and requires you overfill about 1/2 quart, warm up engine to a certain magic temp range, and then while the car is running AND in temp range, remove the drain plug! If you make a wee mistake, you gotta start all over and use the super expensive Toyota FE fluid!

The dipstick is in the engineering department.

I really love how on my 5.0 f150 I get to scortch my arm on the cat to check the fluid. I couldn't think of a easier way oh except like the dip stick on my 96 5.0

Car manufacturers want you to buy a new one every year or two. If something lasts 5 years nowadays, it's pretty much an antique

Don't need to change the fluid here. It's designed to last the life of the vehicle. Which is directly tied to the life of the transmission. That'll be any day now😂😢🙄

Meanwhile those of us with the old-school "row it yourself" gearboxes can continue to pump oil in until some runs out of the filler hole, re-install filler plug, and motor on down the road.

As a mechanic the more they make it harder to service for the average person means more money for me

At least theres a way to measure them. Kia's wet clutch transmission doesn't have a dipstick for either fluid, and there's no level sensor. Manufacturer procedure was to drain each fluid and measure it in a jug until they came out with a SST(it's a dipstick)

Ive gotten yelled at for revving the engine to warm the transmission. Haha. Thanks for showing the right way

This is old school, now you have to use a special adapter and push extra fluid up in the transmission pan. Then drain it out so you know it's full. Real green idea, not wastefull at all. Oh yeah, like $15 quart special fluid too..

So advanced it takes a team of “experts” to check anything….we’ve come so far…😮

So you check it by plugging a computer into your cars computer then draining your transmissions fluid, got it! I hope he remembered to put new fluid in. I've heard on many new cars the filters are not replicable, they only get replaced when the transmission gets rebuilt, crazy!

Remember to measure how much fluid you took out in that drain pan, and put equal amount of new fluid in!
