Guster performing "Rocketship" live on April 19, 2012 at the Tarrytown Music Hall in Tarrytown, NY. The Guster string players are April Guthrie (cello) and Charlene Huang (violin). "Rocketship" originally appeared on the album Goldfly.

Went to a Barenaked Ladies concert... many many years ago at a South Florida amphitheater. Near the front row, center. People next to me were wearing shirts for a band, Guster. I'd not heard of them. Started talking to them and was told they were there for the opening act, Guster. They lauded the band's virtues, claiming they were there for them only. Guster was amazing and sure enough, these peeps were gone after Guster was done. Paid decent prices for those seats, too. Been a fan myself since.

I know others have commented about the meaning behind this song, and their own perspectives of it, etc. As someone who both deals with depression and who has friends who struggle with severe depression, it's a chilling song for me to listen to. Don't get me wrong, musically it's amazing. However, the words and the outro have such a deep meaning to me. It makes me feel more concern for my friends who are struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts, and I just want to find some way to make it all better.

Rocketship is a favourite, but this whole album is gold, thanks so much Guster! Your vocal harmonies make me want to sing more often. The acoustic guitars with string section come together so well.
I'm stoked I discovered Guster, though only recently through Spotify. And you've been around so long, obviously playing heaps together and it shows -cheers!
PS: Please come and play in New Zealand someday.
