On Being's Rev. Lucas Johnson joined the Leadership Foundation Town Hall to talk about how to have civil conversations and engage in adventurous civility with those we may disagree with. Lucas is the Executive Director of On Being's Civil Conversations project where he leads the team in working to nourish, embolden and accompany the work of social healing.

Rev. Johnson Lucas is recognized for his work serving as a leader in the U.S. community of the International Fellowship of Reconciliation (IFOR), the world’s oldest interfaith peace organization, based in Atlanta and focused on the Southeast and mid-Atlantic. He studied at Mercer University and Emory University’s Candler School of Theology. He was born in Germany in a military family, grew up in Georgia (U.S.), and now resides between Amsterdam and the United States.

We also heard from Alvin Bibbs, President of Justice Journey Alliance, Leadership Foundation in Chicago, on the work they are doing in their city to bring people together to seek mutual understanding.

Healing A Fractured World is a series of Leadership Foundations Town Hall meetings where leaders come together at the intersection of thought leadership and praxis. The world can seem out of control as we try to manage a worldwide pandemic, make progress on racial injustice, and repair the deep polarization that exists across the globe. In this 5 part series, we will explore a range of topics as we attempt to reimagine community together in light of the current crises. In short, and to borrow a phrase from Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, how to heal a fractured world.
