They saw it as childish because nintendo once released a zelda ad in 2001 of a mature zelda and then windwaker came out. People did not take that well

Proud to be a wind waker lover since the start I knew it

It’s absolutely timeless. Even though it was made 20 years ago it still feels and plays so smooth and looks beautiful. Will forever be my favorite Zelda.

Playing it now on the switch 2 makes me realize it’s not as bad as I thought it’d be. It’s definitely not the best by any means as many people say it is but it’s definitely a solid Zelda game. Ocerina of time, Totk, botw, twilight princess, and majoras mask are all superior in my opinion but this game is still one of the top

I was one of the few people who loved the way WW looked when it came out. It was gorgeous. Nothing else looked remotely close to it at the time.

Fun fact: in every console that has legend of zelda windwaker if you remove the disc of it then it will keep playing except if you go to a loading zone

Windwaker was my first experience of Zelda games and I dont even remember if it was my brother's or mine, but having seperate memory cards I still played it in awestruck and wasnt bothered by the change in art style since I never played the other games.

I played it when it came out. I was 18 and I loved it. I just recently bought a GameCube and wind waker and playing it I can see why I loved it so much. I still love it a lot

As a 7 year old when wind waker released, I thought it looked incredible. Had to wait until my teen years to play it tho since i didnt own a gamecube. I also thought cartoons were real back then.

Playing it over dolphin emulator with its various enhancements looks amazing tbh. I have it running on my computer and then using an hdmi cord to show it and play it on my tv, and it’s freakin gorgeous.

man thank god people have opened up compared to back then, games like wind waker was hella underrated or asura's wrath as an example being underrated and ahead of its time (combat was aight but not horrible)

I was a kid when Wind Waker came out. I didnt keep up with the controversy, nor did I hate the art style. So, to me, it was always perfect, haha.

This is how my little sister saw windwaker. I told her that was because of the art style but I remember that this came out over 10 years ago.
God I’m old

People thought the same thing above Mario Sunshine

To be fair, the gamers criticizing wind waker were the first generation of Nintendo fans, starting with the NES. They've witness the graphical leap between NES, SNES, N64, and now GC.

Wind Waker was likely a let down due to wanting a more grittier Zelda.

Now for me, I grew up in the 00's so, this game looked awesome. I remember playing the demo in a Walmart and was hooked. Didn't end up getting the game until years later, enjoyed the story. When Wind Waker got an HD Remake, I was all on board. The game deserves a Switch port.

I absolutely loved the cartoonish cel shaded art style since the beginning. I mean, it still played like the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask. That's all that mattered along with a wonderful story.
