--------
Former NBA referee Tim Donaghy discussed allegations of his misconduct during Phoenix Suns games and the subsequent modifications to NBA regulations. Donaghy noted that although team members questioned whether he intentionally influenced game results, both the FBI and NBA confirmed in their separate investigations that he hadn't redirected any outcomes. The controversy prompted revisions to the NBA referee guidelines in 2007. The new rules lifted some gambling restrictions and increased training sessions for referees. Despite these changes, Donaghy raised doubts about their actual implementation, noting he did not see substantial changes. He shared his personal experience with the justice system, revealing he did not have to pay his $250,000 bond and was released the same day he pled guilty. He touched on the agonizing wait for his sentencing, where he was even prepared for trial against Batista.

You cant help but think that many other referees are guilty of the same thing and still doing it to this day.

I hate that this guy was the only one to be ruined by the scandal. It should’ve been more refs ….

The NBA only hates him because he got caught and was sloppy along the way.😂

I think we all knew the Kings and Lakers series was fixed. It was the most obvious fix I've probably ever seen.

It’s pretty crazy how much credibility Donaghy has but the league can just sweep this under the rug and go on with business as usual. The NBA is a complete joke!

He only served 11 months so the judge did NOT throw the book at him...

Like most folks who born around my time (1981) I loved the NBA in the 90’s and was a huge MJ fan. I literally stopped watching the NBA after the Lakers/Kings game 6 fiasco. It was so damn blatant that the whole league was completely corrupt which started right there at the top with David Stern and the owners. This guy deserved everything that he got but to be the only person that went down is absolute madness. Talk about a scapegoat and fall guy.

I remember David Stern getting defensive after Jim Rome asked him if the 2012 was rigged. It was. The NBA had just sold the Hornets. The Hornets coincidentally got first pick in the draft. It was a backdoor deal between Stern and the new owner.

Crooked refs still couldn't stop Detroit from winning the 2004 championship 😎

What’s crazy is in a recent podcast episode Evan Turner confirmed that the NBA will fix games for business/entertainment purposes. Basically said they fixed the Sixers vs Celtics series because a Boston vs Miami Finals “made more sense”.

Tim seems like a honest guy after he was caught. I know he has said the NBA wanted game 7s and they do push to get to game 7.

There are so many questionable calls even today with all the video replay and slow-mo capabilities. Makes you wonder if all this is still happening today.
