6 Tips to Becoming a Pro Filmmaker

The most asked question we get is something along the lines of "How do we start making films like you" or "how do we start in this career?" We find that a tricky question to answer as there are so many ways you could become a filmmaker. However, given our history in the subject, we thought we'd offer 6 tips to be a pro in what we're doing. I hope those of you that are already making a living as a filmmaker can agree with a lot of these. Also, make sure you leave your comments down below. Were there any that you agreed with more - any not so much? What did we leave out? It's always great to hear what you think. That is what helps us grow as well as filmmakers.

Best tip ever...

"JUST START SHOOTING"

I've been into video and filmmaking for years. I have recently decided to take my filmmaking to the next level, what ever that may be. I am currently working on shooting and creating from my iPhone. I understand the set backs in doing this, but I am a firm believer that it's not WHAT equipment you use, but HOW you use it.

I was very timid in shooting strictly iphone videos. I decided, I just have to do it. Doing so pushes my creativity in shooting and editing. Overall, hopefully making my filmmaking that much better!

Thanks for the tips, I really just starting filming myself and for now only use my gopro for it. But I like the filming in combination with story telling and editing already.

I've difficulty with the people, the connections; I've been working on it a lot though, like you say "Just start". Doing just that, I've met a fair amount of interesting people already as I've slowly developed my story and niche.
Youtube is just another environment, another ecosystem really; all just need to find our unexploited niche and tell that story.
