It's almost ironic because the zoo Moo Deng is living in has been receiving so many costumers that the workers feel overwhelmed and are trying to limit the guests as much as possible.

I dont know why people are getting offended by this. The joke isnt that chappell roan's stances are outlandish, the joke is that a BABY HIPPO has the same stances. That's the joke here, thats what makes the bit funny, thats the hippo is some kind of humanized celebrity. If it were simply Bowen dressed as chappell than it wouldn't be funny, cuz there's no joke in that.

The zoo has reported the thousands of people more have been coming. And if the baby is sleeping, they throw things at her to wake up. The hippo now has security and time restrictions to keep her safe. The parody actually hits closer to reality

I dunno it didn't read as mocking to me. I thought it was highlighting how reasonable her stance was by putting it in the light of a comical animal celebrity.

A very famous Pigmy hippo. Thank you very much.

It's a joke. And a pretty tame one at that too. Learn to laugh

Seriously, she is absolutely lucid and reasonable. She’s a human being and wants to sing. Celebrity culture needs to shift, not her. It’s time to stop harassing people just because they are well known.

I feel this whole Chappell situation is in desperate need of nuance. No it isn’t ok to witch hunt her and make her out like a horrible person but at the same time you shouldn’t have to baby her like she’s an innocent toddler. She’s not above critique especially when it comes to needing pr and avoiding canceling shows all the time.

I thought it was derisive at first glance and then thankfully I remembered this thing called nuance (which sometimes escapes me) and that it's possible to make a joke that supports the thing it's making fun of.

The line Bowen says "this is what society does, puts women on a pedestal just to knock them down with seafood". You could interpret that as mocking and dismissing Chappell and women in general, or as a supportive echo wrapped in a joke. Which one is more likely, coming out of the mouth of a queer POC comedian??

Everyone's gonna interpret things their own way, but Jesus some fandoms need to lighten up. Yes women are literally being attacked physically and politically every single day but it's not by Bowen in a hippo suit

It’s ironic that this is the first time I’ve EVER heard of Chapelle Roan and it’s because of Moo deng. I really think Roan was not meant for fame… for whatever it is that she did to get famous for in the first place… 🤨
