Arrow Through Me by Wings REMASTERED
Показать описание
Using Vinyl LP as the source media, this is a remastering of "Arrow Through Me" by Paul McCartney & Wings. It appears on their last album BACK TO THE EGG.
Anyone who knows me, knows I CAN'T STAND PAUL MCCARTNEY. (Nothing personal against Wings.) And this just has to be accepted. I accept they like him, but I'm baffled as to why. I hear "And I Love Her" and say what a beautiful song. Then I hear "Bip Bop" and think "what the fuck happened??"
But there's two instances where I think Paul McCartney was great, and that is the album RAM, and the first side of BACK TO THE EGG, aka "Sunny Side Up." That first side of Back to the Egg, for me, was perfect. There's no ditty, nothing smarmy, nothing sugar sweet and sticky. From song one, to this last song finalising Sunny Side Up, I adore. I even saved a clipping of a review of the album at the time, which was less than complimentary. I kept it because I didn't agree at all. I thought it was the best thing he had done under the banner of Wings. And one of the best things he had done since The Beatles split.
It is also one of his best recorded albums. When The Beatles parted ways, George Harrison grabbed two of their best engineers, Ken Scott & Phil MacDonald.
George Harrison = smart man.
Back to the Egg borrowed Phil MacDonald, and the results are better than anything he did prior, excluding RAM and AT THE SPEED OF SOUND (which was the mighty Peter Henderson.) Phil MacDonald is one of my favourite engineers, and that's primarily because he made every George Harrison album he worked on sound GOOD. And he worked on almost all of them. ;)
Now I know this is Paul McCartney doing his best Stevie Wonder. But Arrow Through Me is one of my favourite songs in the universe.
