As happened with the vaccine rallies, gold and silver mining stocks got clobbered this past week. What little I observed in trades, (as I saw no reason to sell my shares in a great gold mine), were retail traders dumping their smaller holdings. When a handful of large investors sold off, (during the flash sell-off), it was an avalanche. I doubt that much of it had anything to do with American politics, the economy, or the pandemic; instead, I think that much of the retail trade switched over to bitcoin's rally, (it's hard to compete against a rise of about 25% in one week). I'll be watching on Monday, to see if the sell-off ends, then buy more silver mining shares, (no good reason to drop 6% on Friday). Bitcoin reminds me of the tulip mania.

BTC may 'historically' struggle near the lunar new year, but I'd recommend looking a bit deeper into the macro of BTC. Based on the past 2 halving cycles we are just starting the growth period, institutional investing, the promise of global currency devaluing, concern over governmental stability, more and more stimulus. BTC was literally built for this year. Sell if you like, I'll be buying your BTC no problem =)
