Guide to the UK Education System - A Simple Explanation

A Guide to the UK Education system explained in easy terms to help international students understand our homeschooling course levels.

We describe what each of the 4 main educational levels are and typically what subjects students would take at each level.

The British Education System can be explained by dividing into four main stages;

Primary : Age 5-10
Lower Secondary: Age 11-14
Upper Secondary: Age 14-16
Advanced: Age 16+

Our homeschooling courses follow a similar structure of Primary, Lower Secondary, IGCSE and A level courses covering a wide range of subjects. Courses are flexible but structured. As students can go at their own pace, some students will be studying IGCSE courses before the age of 14 whilst others may need to go a little slower and will start IGCSE courses later.
