This Is Why You Shouldn’t Have Your Tonsils Out Unless You Really Need It #infection Having your tonsils removed, also known as a tonsillectomy, can be a beneficial medical procedure in certain situations. This surgery is typically recommended when individuals experience recurring or severe issues related to their tonsils. Here are some reasons why someone might consider having their tonsils removed: Recurrent Tonsillitis: Frequent and severe episodes of tonsillitis, which can cause throat pain, fever, and difficulty swallowing, may necessitate tonsil removal. Chronic Sore Throat: If persistent sore throats are impacting your quality of life, removing the tonsils might offer relief. Breathing Problems: Enlarged tonsils can obstruct the airway, leading to breathing difficulties, especially during sleep. Sleep Apnea: Tonsillectomy can be part of the treatment plan for obstructive sleep apnea, a condition characterized by interrupted breathing during sleep. Snoring: Loud snoring due to enlarged tonsils can disrupt your sleep and that of those around you. Frequent Strep Throat: Recurrent strep throat infections may prompt the removal of tonsils to prevent further complications. Peritonsillar Abscess: In some cases, a painful abscess around the tonsils may require surgical drainage and subsequent tonsillectomy. Difficulty Swallowing: Enlarged tonsils can make swallowing uncomfortable or challenging. Tonsil Stones: Chronic tonsil stones, which are calcified debris in the tonsil crypts, can be a source of discomfort and bad breath. Cancer Concerns: In rare cases, if there are suspicions of cancerous growth in the tonsils, removal may be recommended for diagnostic and treatment purposes. Remember, the decision to have a tonsillectomy should be made in consultation with a medical professional who can assess your specific condition and needs. It's important to weigh the potential benefits against the risks and recovery process associated with this surgery. #Tonsillectomy #Health #Surgery #ThroatHealth #MedicalProcedure #Tonsillitis #SleepApnea #Snoring #StrepThroat #BreathingProblems #Healthcare #ChronicSoreThroat #QualityOfLife #ENT #TonsilStones #Abscess #CancerConcerns #Recovery #Consultation #MedicalAdvice #fyp #fypシ #medicine #interesting #healthcare

I got mines out in 2007 at 19 yrs old, from recurrent tonsilitis infections, every 2-3 months for 3 yrs from 2004-2007. Best thing ever did because the chronic use of oral antibiotics heavily damaged my GI tract causing chronic gastroenteritis.

I was so happy to get my tonsils out when I was 12! They were huge and I was getting tonsillitis 2-3 times a year and it would knock me flat for 3-4 weeks because I’m allergic to most of the preferred antibiotics. Now I hear that doctors don’t prefer to remove them anymore unless they’re causing severe problems 😢 that’s too bad 😢 because it helps so much if the patient has chronic tonsillitis and is missing a lot of time from work or school. It seems like some doctors are just being sadistic to their patients in this instance, why would any doctor make a patient keep a diseased body part that isn’t doing the job they claim it’s supposed be doing, my friend had been told that it’s because the tonsils help the immune system, but if it’s constantly getting infected, that makes it a detriment, especially when the patient is in their mid 30s and it’s only getting worse 😢

More prone to bleed if you don’t have it done as a child, but as an adult. ❤

I had them removed when I was 23 y/o and I freaked out so much when I saw this in the mirror!! 😅 I remember swallowing them too, it was disgusting.. Still traumatized to this day from all the pain. Definitely the most painful thing I went through
