Fishing steelhead with spoons in Norcal rivers, I learned an effective technique; when the lure swings in to a strong current, try back reeling, letting out line, instead of reeling it in. This will keep the current from overwhelming the lure, and keep it closer to the bottom. Then, when you swing it in near shore, start reeling in to bring the lure up out of the junk.


BTW, this channel is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I've learned more about hard body lure construction from your videos than 20 years of reading books on the subject.
I quit fishing 5 years ago (The Cali DFG fishing reg book is a quarter inch thick now, and just a base license alone was $50 last time I bought one), but watching your videos still brings a smile to this old man's mug. Thank you...
