"Or don't have approval for another set of speakers..." great line! Spot on with with wanting quality on pure stereo and using the same speakers on a separate surround sound amp. For me I want to get the most out of my Cyrus setup for pure stereo and get something like an Onkyo for the surround. Thanks for posting, just the nudge I needed to progress this project. Cheers.

Simple enough. I understand. What about the subwoofer though? I have the single wire from amp to sub. How does this get shared between two amps?

You make a good point regards the switches breaking before making, it's a pity the sellers/advertisers of such products don't actually mention this which leaves me wondering if they do actually break before making.

Is it possible just to put the speaker wires from two amps into the back of the speakers ie two red two black into the back of each speaker? Only having one amp switched on at one time. Thanks

Thank you this is exactly what I needed to know but I have one question what can I do for the subwoofer? I'd like to switch it back and forth from two amps also.

Looks like a great box and almost identical to my Beresford TC-7210, which I got here in the UK. I use it to share a pair of Q Acoustic 3030i speakers between a Denon AVR-X4400H (for 5.1) and an Audiolab 6000a (for stereo music). Works brilliantly and solves a genuine problem that I'm surprised more people don't have.

Absolutely spot on. The info and products I was looking for, with a concise explanation. Thanks!

Thank you for this great review. Want to have a high quality integrated amp with DAC feed my L/R Floorstanders, but use the same speakers coupled with a dedicated Center for to my AVR for TV/movie watching. This excellent video walk through for this device looks to be exactly what I needed!

Thank you ...that's the challenge I stumbled upon by adding Vintage Kenwood KA-801(that limits the ability to hook up the center speaker and using TV audio output) just to enjoy music and having Yamaha RX-V550 for hooking up Bluray etc...

Thanks for the video. I love my big surround sound modern Denon for everything except vinyl... it just can't compete with my old silverface dual transformer monster from the golden era. Sick of pulling out cables all the time.

As someone who has the SP71 and Beresford 7210 my advice is forget the SP71 and go for the Beresford. It is slightly more, but bigger with far superior build quality. The speaker terminals on the SP71 and very cheap and too close together. You cannot easily use standard size spades.

Hi, thanks for making this video. I want to add another amp home theater setup so i can use the one for my turntable.I already have another preamp powering the L C R speakers, while the main receiver is powering the surrounds and height speakers. How do i go about connecting the L & R speakers to the switch amp box.
Thanks.

Does it keep a load on the amps when switching to another amp? When using tube amps a load, normally the speakers, must be kept on the amp when it is on. It you forget to turn off a tube amp when switching to the other amp it will be damaged without a load on it. Some of these switch boxes are designed to keep a load on when switched.

Thanks for this. Looks exactly the same as the Beresford 7210. Same product? I have a 5.1.2 set up but also love my stereo music. My Onkyo 676 doesn’t have pre outs and I’m wanting to get a stereo amp. So this may be the solution. My concern has been shorting something. Is it completely idiot proof? If I was to forget to switch when changing what I was doing or switch at the wrong time, is there a danger of something going boom!?

Great review!!...Do you know if there's anything out there that will do 3 or 4 amps to 1 set of speakers? I've been looking and can't find anything beyond 2 amps. I have 4 vintage stereos that I wanna hook up to 1 pair of speakers. I know it may seem excessive but hey, I'm a vintage stereo freak!...LOL

Can multiple units be chained together to give you even more options? More amps, more speakers ?

Great video. Is there a product that you can hook up 3 or four amps.

Can this be used with a tube amplifier? I understand that tube amps NEED to have the load imposed on them from speakers being connected.

Well done and your options really help!
I currently have a TC-7240 which I intended to use for a input selector for my tube amp. I also have a second amp (solid state NAD) I wanted to hook up but realized there was no way to use with the one set of speakers. Would the SP-71 provide a solution?
So the TC-7240 would select which amp would control the inputs while the SP-71 controls which amp to run the one set of speakers.
