Terrible conclusion. We should be teaching people financial literacy not allowing people unable to pay their debts to take out more debt. Credit scores are an objective measure of who repays their debts. Furthermore when you run someone's credit you get more than just a number, you get a full report of all debts, payment history, past bankruptcies, etc.

It baffles me how you are encouraged to buy something with credit (I owe you) and then later pay it back, just to create a good credit score. I was taught the opposite in Switzrrland. Save up your money for something you can then afford. Making a debt was always the least advised choice.

People are ignorant if they obsess over credit scores, I'm not promoting a low credit score but don't spend your entire life indebted to a multibillion-dollar financial institution.

You should see where I work. Nobody's running any kind of credit check. They're just happy someone is going to work for them.
