Lin shidong will soon reach his peak and probably replace Fan as a the King of Backhand. In fact, in this tournament, he reminds me of Fan during the 2021 and 2023 word championships. Ever since Wang got his blade broken and consequently lost to Truls, he is not himself. Tons of unforced errors and his frustration is obvious to see. He needs some downtime to recover.
In the mean time, LSD has reached another level. He has taped down his usual unforced errors from his backhand due to overaggressive play. His forehand has been improved with usage. Did you ever see a player who can go toe to toe with his backhand against Wang's fast paced forehand? Yes, that's LSD.
