I bought a set a couple of months ago... they're ran through an Apogee Duet and sound marvellous. Truly a splendid tool/product.

I have owned these AKG K271 for 20+ years now. The speakers/drivers are now starting to go bad on them. 20 years they lasted. And they are still making them. And still making them in Austria. I will buy another pair. Great sounding for studio monitoring which is what I do, record my own music and monitor with these as I have for the past 20 years. I love AKG stuff, also own the AKG414 mic (and a couple of cheaper mics which I have used for recording acoustic guitar-wonderful sounding recordings from them). I use the AKG414 for miking high gain electric guitar (I have heard they sound pretty decent for vox as well).

Why the f do my crappy ear pods have more power than my AKG 271 MK II? I’m using an iPad and a focus rite 2i2 and they’re at max volume alone with my iPad and/or through the focus rite interface. They sound good but low. I checked out another pair new at the shop and the same thing. No one can explain. I’d go to the doctor except my crappy ear pods sound much more powerful. I have to turn the volume way down. This is driving me crazy and I’ll need a psychiatrist if someone can’t give me the correct answer. Please help.
