Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Absorbent and yellow and porous is he! And he's turning 20 years old today! The one and only, SpongeBob SquarePants!

Yep, the beloved Nickelodeon award-winning animated series created by the late Stephen Hillenburg that debuted on May 1st, 1999, and became a global phenomenon, Internet sensation, and beloved American icon. That and also it holds the title of being Nickelodeon's longest-running show ever!

SpongeBob has gotten so popular over the years that it's hard to find a person who DOESN'T know who SpongeBob is, even if he or she doesn't watch it. I have grown up with SpongeBob all my life. He has made my day in every imaginable way possible and I have very fond memories growing up with him. Me and my brother still like to quote lines from all the episodes like we have been doing since we were kids!

It's not just a cartoon. SpongeBob SquarePants is one of a kind, and no other show is like SpongeBob. Every single classic episode contains iconic scenes, quotes, or even the birth of Internet memes! SpongeBob saved lives, made childhoods, and is a spectacular show that has made an impact on animation and entertained generation upon generation of children, teens, and adults alike.

I, for one, LOVE SpongeBob. I love the characters, the episodes, the songs, the movies, the merchandise, the specials, and everything in between. SpongeBob is so wholesome, Squidward is relatable, Patrick is hilarious, Mr. Krabs is someone you love to hate, Plankton is an awesome villain, and Sandy's so freaking badass.

There are so many catchy songs that'll get stuck in your head, such as "Sweet Victory", "Ripped Pants, "FUN", "Best Day Ever", and all others. So many hilarious quotes such as "Wumbo", "Is mayonnaise an instrument?", “I’m ready!”, “I went to college!”, and many others! So many memorable scenes, such as SpongeBob’s first day at the Krusty Krab, The Bubble Bowl Halftime Performance, Patrick’s secret box, Mr. Krabs and Plankton at each other’s throats, Sandy and SpongeBob doing karate, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy, returning Neptune’s Crown, taking boating exams, and all others.

SpongeBob is just the kind of show that’s always enjoyable to watch. And I’m proud to be one of the many people who have watched it growing up.

As the voice of SpongeBob, Tom Kenny, said “SpongeBob’s vocal cords might be mine, but SpongeBob’s playful spirit of gentle energy, his humor, and the joy he takes in his vibrant, colorful, music-filled world come directly from Mr. Stephen Hillenburg.”

We have Steve to thank for making all of this possible. It’s heartbreaking that he's not alive anymore to celebrate with us, but I know he’s happy with how far his creation has gone and that he left a long lasting legacy that lives through the show, and whether it’s the underwater sun or the meaning of fun, SpongeBob will keep us laughing for years to come.

Here’s to 20 years of aquatic joy, laughter, Krabby Patties, Goofy Goobers, jellyfishing, bubble-blowing, and lots of F.U.N!

Now this is a celebration of SpongeBob, I wanted. You didn't take the easy route and only showed the 1st three seasons, you actually went out of your way to represent the series (well, except for the video games and comics) as a whole, by also taking clips from the later seasons and 2nd movie. I love that you added parts of the Broadway version into the original Best Day Ever! And that last minute was just beautiful. Happy 20th Anniversary, SpongeBob. Your series as a whole, may hae not been perfect, but you definitely gave me alot laughs, some great plots, weird comics, and some good games.

I feel like the saddest moments in our time frame (Steven) brought us all closer together as a community than we ever were, trying to repay Steven for all the amazing work he has done for our childhood bringing us joy, happiness and laughters and so much more

Spongebob has been through a long journey in these past 20 years, from getting a job at the krusty Krab, to meeting a talking squirrel, to learning the meaning of friendship, befriending his idols mermaid man and barnacle boy, to becoming a whole superhero group (twice), succeed as a fry cook, bring Mr krabs and Ms puff together, get squidward addicted to krabby patties, preform the best performance at the bubble bowl, befriend wormy, work at the night shift, go to the moon twice, fail his driver lisence 1 million times, impress Kevin the sea cucumber with his jellyfishing skills, get Patrick a trophy, save Neptune's crown, and finally become Manger of the krusty Krab. Even through the lost of his creator spongebob has succeeded both in and out of universe and I wish him another 20 years!!!

3:04-3:09 I'm probably reading into this too much, but this part really got to me. Seeing spongebob and Patrick's friendship through several eras of the show is really inspiring. I've got very close friendship that I'm always worried will end because of outside complications, but seeing this friendship withstand the test of time, even if it's a cartoon, it motivates me to keep my friendship going, no matter what happens.
