A hybrid powertrain propels the 2021 Toyota Sienna into class-leading status.

Driving the 2021 Toyota Sienna, you have to wonder if it's more than just a great van--it might just be one of the best vehicles on the road today. A hybrid powertrain skyrockets the Sienna's combined fuel economy into the low-30 mpg range, and its new architecture makes it surprisingly fun to drive.

Presenter: Matt Smith
Cinematography: Elliot Haney
Written review: Jason Fogelson

Correction: The Toyota Sienna's middle-row seats are no longer removable for the 2021 model year!

Its really appreciable of you guys to review a minivan and bring back some old school memories during this SUV era 👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ my first minivan driving experience was a Toyota Previa and my days with it are still a huge nostalgia for me.

I have been waiting 5 years for Toyota to update the Sienna. I've owned a 2011, 2013 & 2016. In 2019 I switched to Honda Odyssey & hate it!! But at the time, it had all the technical features I was looking for. But with the hands-free sliding side doors - I'M ALL IN FOR THE 2021!!!!

Great review Matt. I must tell you that as someone who currently own a 2012 Sienna SE, Sienna minivan is the best car for every family with children. Our Sienna have saved us over $100, 000 in damages to other people’s expensive cars when we park next to them. I love our Sienna and will not trade it in for an SUV.

I drove my in law's Sienna 2010, I have to say this mini van is the most comfortable car to drive for a long trip. Even more comfortable than my Lexus Rx. The only thing that I wish Toyota has put in this car is HUD, a very useful thing to have.

I was looking for a 2021 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck but now thinking of 2021 Sienna Platinum AWD. It is a better choice vehicle, more practical, more benefits, more safety and more Technology. I don't see anything wrong with this van at all. I have a family of 4, and this van is perfect for years to come.

Coming from a 2017 Pacifica to a 2021 sienna xse is like going from a dumpster fire to a 5 star resort... cant say enough about the build quality and milage in the Sienna.... Will never go back to a Fiat product again....

I have a 2009 xle and I love it. It is an extention of my house and houses the bikes on summer long. I anticipate I will get a 2022 Sienna in 2025/2026. @17/23 mpg, it isn't the most frugal car out there, but I could not justify the upgrade even if I had the money. I love the way the new car looks though. Thank you for the stellar review.

EPA fuel efficiency @ 36 mpg. Toyota is selling itself short if they're saying it's 33 mpg.

FYI - middle seats are non-removal so you can not get extra cargo space as mention by more cargo with removal, btw - Toyota states combine is 36 mpg not 33 mpg. Please do a comparison on the FWD vs AWD on performance and mpg, advantages & disadvantage... thanks!

36MPG is a huge gas savings compared to the 18-20 mpg of other minivans.

Great overview Matt! Good focus on the MPG.

Only Toyota would stick with incandescent light bulbs for the interior lighting on a hybrid. I'm having owned a 2016 Prius for 4 years I could tell you already that those lights are very dim

Don't understand the appeal of SUVs over a good minivan. I had a 2003 Toyota Tacoma which I loved but the turn radius of my current 2015 Honda odyssey put the Tacoma to shame! I didn't realize how much more nimble minivan could be. If I get another minivan it'll probably be a siena - it looks great!

I just bought a 2021 Toyota Sienna platinum a week ago 9/8/21. The vehicle won’t move in reverse drive and neutral, with parking brake off . It happened twice in one day for one hour each occasion on 9/14/21. The vehicle saying brake and acceleration pedal pressed simultaneously, even though your not stepping on the pedals. The dealer told me there is nothing wrong with it since I can drive it again and there is no engine code.

My wife got the same model but blizzard pearl/chateau colors. What I don't like is the noise, other than that it's what she wanted. When I drove it with every seat occupied, I had no problems merging onto I-95 but once again, the noise.

I was surprised to learn that the new Sienna comes with ventilated rear brakes. Why is this? Do other minivans do? are they expecting big break loads? Being a hybrid I would expect most of the brake load to be done by the electric motors.

Awesome review. I am planning to get this one. For a family of 4 planning to own only one car. Do you suggest Sienna?

I have recalled other channels mentioned that the middle seats are not removable.

My kids said that it’s like riding business class seat in an airplane. This van is truly amazing.
