She literally proved her point.. when Karen doesn't like the way she's being treated, she can just walk away. But us Black people can't just walk away, because it's everywhere we go — RACISM is everywhere!!!

‘Martin Luther king was shot. Are you in any physical danger here?’ ....wow!

I feel like we aren't giving enough attention to the girl with short bleached hair. That statement "You've made your point, " it's interesting how quickly white people get tired of discussing racism. She may not have got up and threw a tantrum but she was just as bad.

all the white people saying they're against this because "its mean" are really missing the point

It’s still crazy to see people break down in a few hour because of discrimination while people had to endure this everyday

Emmet still didn’t even make a statement. The lady came out and confessed he didn’t even do anything, not even wink. She made up the whole thing and he was still tortured and killed. Just FYI

"When your hand is up you are thinking of what you're going to say instead of what's being said." FINALLY someone says it! Jane Elliott is amazing, though it's sad we still need her, after all these years.

That women is something else. Her motives and heart is pure, she realizes that she has only hours to change minds and she comes at her audiences with the force of a bomb.

I think a lot of people think “being sorry” means apologising for being white. But honestly it isn’t. You don’t have to be sorry for being a colour you didn’t choose, it wouldn’t make sense if you were. But you have to accept that your skin colour puts you at an advantage over others. Just like people with two functioning legs have a greater chance of winning a race than people with no legs or just one.

I think people misunderstood me. I’m sorry. This message was meant for people who don’t believe white privilege exists. I wanted to tell them that their being white, DOES put them ahead of others according to the system. And apologising doesn’t mean apologising for being white but accepting this fault in the system and fighting for a better one. One that supports equality.

Also I didn’t mean to compare being black to being disabled. I was simply just giving an example I thought would be easy to understand. Sorry if I offended anyone. It was not my intention.

It hit me when Jane Elliot said that people of color can't even be in their own home and not be exposed to racism through television, because I realized that is actually the best case scenario. Botham Jean, Atatiana Jefferson, Breonna Taylor, were all killed in their homes at the hands of police in 2018, 2019 and 2020, and I can only imagine how many other black and latino people met the same fate throughout the years in the indifference of the white world (I say this as a white person).
People who say Elliot was "mean" should try and imagine what it would be like to be suddenly killed for no reason while you are sitting on your couch and then evaluate if their precious little hurt egos are really all that important.

Jane is a perfect example of how being pro black does not mean you have to be anti black. Just be on the side of doing the right thing it’s not about colour. Just because you support lgbtq does not mean you have to hate straight people.

This was just a hypothetical scenario so if that girl in the audience could not handle that then that says a lot.

This documentary was before it's time AND was relevant back in 2001 as well.

The fact that now we know Emmet Till did nothing and the husband of the lady killed him for no reason really makes her lest statement hit hard.

She used her white priviledged in which she knew she would not be under pressure and disrespect if she left and she didn't understand that blacks can't. I have walked so long on egg shells cause of my skin, that the soul of my feet is cut up.
