Everytime Dan shows up at Heathrow

Heathrow tower: "Operation StopDan is on! I repeat, Operation StopDan is on! Over"

Dan, they call the fog the "London Particular." It has teeth! Not too surprised there is so much difficulty at Heathrow. That fog will blow in with absolutely no warning.
What about Gatwick? I'm sure they have a Boots there, though not too sure about M&S. I LOVE Boots! It's always such a terrific adventure! I really wish they had them here in the US. Hugs to you and Oskar!

I live in London and almost only use LHR, I don't find it that bad at all. When connecting at any airport there's a chance they'll lose your bag and ATC have rules to follow regarding when they can allow planes to take off. I find security to be almost always under 5 minutes and flight never delayed more than 15 min.

The way to lift the curse is to sit in economy on a Ryanair flight.

I can sadly relate to the lost bags😢.
I got all the way to Australia and back getting 7 flights in total, and Heathrow lost one of my checked bags on the connection in Heathrow for the final flight LHR-DUB because it didn’t make it to the plane on time.

I was going from LA to Mumbai and I had a stop in Heathrow. The connection was supposed to be around 4 hours but thanks to Virgin Atlantic delaying the LA to London flight for god knows what, we only had around 30 minutes to make it through security and onto our flight as it was minutes away from boarding. Heathrow’s security was being very aggressive and was delaying the security line even more. We did end up getting on the flight with seconds to spare but the bags didn’t because of how close the connection was. We waited 3 days in Mumbai before they got us our bags. Another time they threw out all the baby food we had (this was a while ago) even though we had it all properly packed and it wasn’t over the limit so that obviously that caused a problem. London Heathrow is so bad that when I was flying from London to LA, Heathrow would have been a 35 minute drive from my hotel but I still decided to drive the 1.25 hour drive to London Gatwick to avoid the terrible airport.

Had the worst experiences connecting internationally at LHR over the past three years.

It took the cake when the wheelchair service for my 93 year old father was not provided, while we were waiting for them to come, only to be told after half an hour that they wouldn't. By then we had lost valuable time, and had to rush to the international connection security checks where the line was so long, we nearly missed our flight, and only made it because it was delayed. In that rush my father fell on the escalator and was helped by other passengers, not staff. He was completely exhausted and that before another 8 hour flight in BA's cramped economy. Luggage got lost of course.

At this point I am avoiding LHR at all cost, paying a premium to not connect there, and telling everyone to do the same. Way, way too stressful.

I am a Brit living in another country that requires international, long haul travel to the UK. BA was bad when my parents flew in the eighties. Nothing has changed, only it has become worse. BA will always strive to the lowest threshold, and is very proud to occupy the position.

I just recently connected thru LHR and it was TORTURE. I was flying BA from ZRH-LHR-LAX. We just got off the plane with no purchases available anywhere and we had to go thru security just after the flight. That line took an hour and I didn’t get to enjoy the BA lounge before the business class flight like I see in your vids

Went through Heathrow once. Airline managed to only load a few dozen bags on the plane. I distinctly remember standing in the baggage claim when the lady on the overhead announcement told us that the rest of the bags didn’t get loaded on the flight and everyone from our flight just looking at each other with a mutual sigh. Pretty much everyone on that flight had to file for lost baggage.

I'm not travelling anytime this year but I love these videos. They make me yearn for the airport experience once again, thank you!

Good day Dan! Although you probably have thought of this before, I’d suggest to fly via Gatwick instead. In that way, you avoid the biggest hubs. There aren’t that many international connections, but I wonder if you could try Norse Atlantic Airways.

This summer, I went from Madrid to Glasgow through Heathrow. My first flight was delayed 2 hours, so I barely missed the connection flight to Glasgow (I still have 30 minutes, but the security didn't let go through).
So I was rebooked for a flight on the following day afternoon. Of course, BA didn't have left hotel rooms, so I had to pay for one, and hopefully, they will reimburse (still waiting). Just giving us those vouchers (10 pounds per person) for dinner.

On the next day, the flight was first delayed 2 hours, then canceled due to a technical problem. This time, they had hotel rooms in... Gatwick, thankfully, my flight was rebooked to a flight from Gatwick. I also had vouchers to the bus going from Heathrow to Gatwick... along with dozens of people... I decided to skip this mess and took an Uber with my family.
The next day, we flew from Gatwick to Glasgow, and except for the tremendous mess with the automatic drop-off machines, it went ok. We arrived at Glasgow around 40 hours later than scheduled...

Bro my brother has faced this thing in Heathrow airport from LHR-HK

1. He booked a business class ticket in British airways and in mid air due to operational issues in the plane, he had again came back to Heathrow airport.
2. British airways couldn’t book him business class, instead he got an economy class ticket. But that became even worse, some person in the plane was not feeling well, so the plane stopped at Bucharest. Then after a 10 hour delay, the plane started and he felt super tried after plane landed and after few days he decided to just go back to his home in NYC

Not sure Heathrow has any monopoly on travel misery. Took me 14 hours to get from Dallas-Ft Worth to LAX yesterday, due to American Airlines operational issues, in perfect weather. Our 787-9 got taken out of service before departure, and couldn’t be replaced after hours of trying. American finally downgraded the flight to a 787-8 they found laying around, so a bunch of us got bumped. This at their main US hub. Capacity ridiculously stretched everywhere.

Scottish traveller here and I avoid BA for that very reason would much rather have my connection in France or Amsterdam if it’s not a direct flight!
