I should also add, these are heavy compared to other Al cased cells, but they are actually LIGHTER, and take up less volume, than many other lifepop4 prismatic cell case variants, such as sinopoly/winston cells. But compared to other Al case cells, they are off by 50wh/kg, which is substantial. So they are not actually "heavy" for being lifepo4, but as I said in the video, they are heavy as an Al cased cell.

Quick specific energy comparison from my testing:
Other Al case Grade A prismatic Cells: 159-163Wh/Kg
Fortune Cells: 106-110Wh/Kg
Sinopoly/Winston etc: 90-110Wh/Kg

So as always, it's relative. Considering the durability of these cells, it is not surprising that they weigh more than the tiny terminal Al case cells. It is WELL worth the increased weight and decreased volumetric density, in my opinion.

If i could be as excited as this guy about life as he is about batteries, id be very happy.

I know nothing about battery systems, I came here by accident, but I love your enthusiasm, and now I find myself learning stuff about batteries. Thanks.

Very nice! The plastic shrouds are really well thought out for any shape imaginable, and make it easy to swap out tired cells.
Tip for cutting threaded rod - put a nut on it first before cutting, then unscrew the nut to tidy the thread, then you can file the end burr for easy use.

Will, PLEASE please please build a 400 amp hour 12 volt and 24 volt DIY systems? Preferably with these batteries hooked to both solar and a vehicle 12 volt system. Few of us can afford 4K for Battle Born, so it would be a big help.
Thanks for the great content!

I used these Cells to build a 48V 300Ah battery (48 cells 3P16S) in combination with 2 MPP 5Kw inverters and a Daly BMS 16S 100/200A. It works great and I power my whole house 24/7 with it. (I live in the Philippines so no lacking of Sunlight) Actually it was Will's recommendation what made me use this cells. I ordered it in China directly from the Manufacturer for only $50 per cell.

WOW! Who cares if they are big and heavy they look great! And as a newbie I really appreciate the user friendly nature of these. It's like you almost snapped them together like Legos!😁👍❤

Will, I have been using the 100AH Fortune cells for about 2 years living fulltime in an all electric RV (no propane). I run a 200AH 48V bank with 2 Victron Quattro (split 240V). I have hit them with some pretty hefty loads and they have performed great. BTW great vids, keep 'em coming

Those are by far the best battery configuration I have seen yet. Size and weight is an easy compromise, when it comes to stacking.

This is turning into my favourite channel, so interesting and learning heaps, also great to finally understand Americans using the Metric system,

1:18 The gap between cells is not enough for convective air flow. You need a space >1" (~3 cm) before the air is able to flow to get any significant convective heat transfer.

I love your videos as one who designed and installed a small remote location solar system. Eleven months ago we had to replace our batteries and wanted to go Lithium but the batteries will be in a cold environment for several months. So, we went with AGM's. At the time I was unaware of a low temp cutoff in fact I don't think there were hardly any BMS's or battery with one. That is how far things have come in just one year! If I had to do it over today I would have no problem putting in a Lithium battery system knowing I could incorporate a reliable BMS with low temp cutoff. The only problem I am having at the moment is what battery would I buy? In your series of evaluating different batteries each time you review a battery and give it a thumbs up I think that is the battery I would buy. Then you do another battery evaluation, like the one above, and my mind is changed again!!! Thanks for all the reviews you do. I have learned a ton and wish I would have had this kind of knowledge 7 years ago when I first setup the system.

Hi Will. For the threaded rod....
Put your nut on the rod before you cut it, then unthread the nut past the cut and the nut will straighten the threads.
Also if you cut using a dremel tool and cutoff discs, it cuts very clean but put the nut on before you cut, incase .

Will! If you haven’t done a video on it, please do a quick tutorial on how to solder. I have watched other videos, but I am still not good. I’m optimistic that with your clear teaching style, I could improve with the info you would teach!

I like that they are heavy duty case and terminals. I really liked that you showed us the cold temp cut off real cool. Thanks for your intelligence Will!!!

I understand about half of what you say in these videos, but I am understanding more the more I watch 😅 Thanks to your videos, I installed my first van system using your least favorite battery, 2 AGM 100ah Deep Cycle Batteries. But in the future I would love to build my own lithium system from cells. So keep on with these awesome videos.
