Hope this helps you make your decision about whether or not you should spend the extra couple bucks and go for the hollow AF1’s. I recommend them if you like loose trucks and that surfy feeling when you’re riding your board. Cheers, folks!

**UPDATE** so not only have I seen other people complaining about the issue with the nut coming off of the axle, the REPLACEMENT pair they sent me also has the same issue. Be very cautious about buying these. There’s obviously a widespread defect.

The wheels falling off happened to me on my first day skating them. Got them from NOTE in Manchester. They’re fine now tho.

Regarding the softness of the allumnium I am having the same impression with ace classics. Coming from indy stage 11 I am feeling that my ace classics are wearing much faster than my indys did.

Ace AF1s are supposed to use a harder material than classics, but it seems that even these aren't as hard as independents, which is a pity since I enjoy riding aces much more.

Wow, was super close to getting some but seeing your axle nut defect and someone else’s, nevermind. Thanks for the review!

Okay, thank you for your review! I've desided to buy the 'Theeve' trucks again )))

I hear Ace trucks have a buttery grind. I wonder if the reason they grind so well is the same reason they wear down so quickly.

Would you say its a fair trade off, or is the improved grind not that noticeable?

have your pivot cups broken? i’ve broke so many pivot cups on the af1’s and had ace sent me a new pair and it t did the same thing

The axle nut is the problem, not the axle. They put some fancy design in their axle nuts meant for rethreading so it has less metal than a standard axle nut… cool concept, but it causes them to grip poorly. Put regular axle nuts on there and it should be fine.

Af1 have a retread on it!! That helps if you land primo and ruin the treads

Nice review man, do you run standard ace bushings on these?

Was it the axle threads? Or the nut? Did you try a different nut on that one that kept falling off?

Hey I’m planing to give this one a try i ride a 8.38 too but i’m really thinking hard if i should get 55 or 44. I email ace up asking them about this and they recommend 44 i was wondering on your end how is it like ? Is the wheel sticking out from the deck?

every time ive had hollow axle trucks they would always bend. do you think af1s would have that issue as well?

I don’t think I would even touch these trucks. I’ve watched several reviews and they all say the same thing about the nut falling off. I mean, thank God you weren’t bombing a hill when it happened. I feel like the company just needs to recall all of these.
