Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced sweeping reforms to the welfare system, aiming to cut £6 billion from the budget.

These changes include freezing Personal Independence Payments (PIP), tightening eligibility criteria, and altering Universal Credit rates. While the government insists these measures will create a sustainable welfare system and incentivise employment, critics warn of devastating impacts on disabled individuals and vulnerable groups. In this video, Adam Cherry breaks down the key points of these controversial reforms, explores expert opinions, and highlights the potential consequences for millions across the UK.

Stop the hotel bill instead of going after the disabled and vulnerable

I'm 45. Worked all my life. Now in the space of 2 years I have been struck down with several severe health issues. I was no longer fit for work. The struggle I had to get the benefits I have now was ridiculous. I had to sit with citizens advice for hours with endless forms. Now I am scared they will be taken away from me and I will have to start from scratch. I have been through hell and I don't think I can do this again. I have nobody, no family and I live alone. I am so scared.

So the poorest and most vulnerable in society are being targeted

Those who criticise those who claim benefits, you'd better hope you never get ill because you'll find out what we go through

Wow he must be really scraping the barrel, going after the disabled!
Why doesn’t he cut David Lammy”s food and drinks bill, totalling over £520, 000, £521, 527 to be precise, since last summer 2024.

If we the British have paid into the system all our lives we should be able to have help when most needed I think this is an absolute disgrace

Applying for PIP is already brutal. It broke me both mentally & physically over 7 months of hell dealing with a company who played games & lied. Their sole purpose seemed to be to make sure your claim failed. Anyone who thinks getting pip is easy is misinformed. To make it harder than it already is cruel beyond belief. I have never been the same since my ordeal.

I imagine that benefits for 'you know who' will remain untouched and or increased, and the cuts will only apply to the native British taxpayer.

This PM is cutting money for disabled people but retaining the cost of HOTELS, FOOD, MOBILE PHONES, TAXIS, DAYS OUT, NHS TREATMENT and more!
Does anything exist between the EARS?

What it means is that someone like me, who is suffering from cancer, will have their benefits cut. The money saved will then be wasted by Labour on another vanity project.

I'm already living below the poverty line and even if I was offered a job, which is unlikely, I couldn't take it as I'm too ill to work. It's not my fault that I'm ill and yet I'm going to be punished. We've only just been through the upheaval of changing to PIP etc and now they want to change it again! How much is that going to cost? If they want to cut the welfare bill, why don't they stop the boats and save the £80 Bn that they spend on illegal immigrants! They're getting everything for free and people who were born here who have MS or Parkinsons etc will be even worse off! It's outrageous!

£6 billion - isn't that about what uninvited illegal migrants cost UK taxpayers annually?

Cruelty. I barely make ends meet as it is, being disabled. Heating is now a luxury. Starmer has no compassion.😢

Encouraging people back into work? While making it impossible for small companies, who are now firing not hiring workers. Even the big corporations are freezing new hires and making current staff work harder for less raises and zero bonuses. Then there are all the immigrants working in the black economy, which are traditionally working class and younger mens starter jobs, i.e jobs in delivery and security and the like.
