Shouldn’t we be concentrating on an Earth-Mars Cycler. We can load it up near earth and unload it near mars. And it’s nearly infinitely reusable since it is in an orbit that takes it around each planet on a regular basis.

This is what over reliance on H1-B visas, a crumbling public AND private education system, coupled with ZERO curiosity about anything gets you. I have a 45 year old neighbor going back to school for electrical engineering, & one of the questions he asks is why are there so many non traditional students like himself in STEM programs instead of the 18-35 demographic? He even said it, Americas last chance to save science is probably going to come from the pre-geriatric generations, sadly I believe him, having gone back for my masters in CS, I was the youngest person in nearly most of my classes. It’s not NASA’s fault, they are the victims of anti-intellectual politicians.

Yes, a Part 2 is very desirable since Part 1 left out a key factor ... What is NASA's Mars Descent & Ascent Spacecraft? Other than the 'Station', only the Orion was depicted in the animations, and that can't do anything at Mars other than provide radios back to earth. Deano in DC

Starship is still our best option. It's ready for testing and it can be reconfigured quickly. In space refueling, cargo and passengers. NASA.??? What have you got on the pad now?

nuclear powerplants would be super useful though to if they could be ejected prior to final descent and used as a power source on mars. need not be like fullsize reactor thing but microplants cesium plants etc.. there are a bunchof potential designs that are fairly safe, and would be super useful both on route to mars, its just getting the them into orbit imo any mars missions should totally send nuclear reactors on the first missions both to provide energy for the multimonth mission but also to provide power on the surface of mars for the colony.
